#24939, "RE: The Lover's Quest"

I don't have the first part of the quest for you, but here's the second half:

(48 H-Drw War) (TRIBUNAL) Voebyn the General
(Human) Amaranthe the Everchanging, Goddess of the Great Cycle
(51 Elf Bar) Mairra the Grand Mistress of Artistry
(19 Elf Inv) Vahletharien the Grand Sorcerer

In the Heart of the Forest
You are standing in the center of a large clearing, neatly surrounded by trees
which form an almost perfect circle. The floor of the clearing is lushly
carpeted with vibrant, green grass, and bathed in warm sunlight streaming down
from a large opening in the forest canopy far above. Off in the distance, the
soothing song of a lark echoes cheerfully, while a pair of squirrels tussle
merrily at the edge of a pool in the center of the clearing.

(Exits: north east south west)

(Ghost) Vahletharien is here.
Mairra is resting here.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'qpaiizr pzah'.
Vahletharien begins to chant in low tones. As he finishes, you notice his face becoming flushed.

Mairra looks at Vahletharien.

Vahletharien nods.

Vahletharien sits down and rests.

Vahletharien stops using a gnarled staff.

Mairra says 'So, hunter.'

Mairra smiles happily.

Mairra giggles with pleasure.

Mairra says 'You are the first to find me.'

Vahletharien says 'It appears so, yes.'

Mairra says 'And what is it you have come for?'

Mairra says 'Gifts, for me?'

Vahletharien says 'Yes, they represent my ability to conquer, protect, and lead.'

Mairra looks at you with slight interest, and a sly smile.

Mairra eats a large boar steak.

Vahletharien says 'But aside from these things, they hold another common trait...'

Vahletharien says 'You see I carry no weapon here.'

Mairra looks at Vahletharien.

Mairra nods.

Vahletharien says 'For young magi that study an art such as mine...the hands play a very important role.'

Vahletharien stands up.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'qpaiizr pzah'.
Vahletharien begins to chant in low tones. As he finishes, you notice his face becoming flushed.

Mairra says 'I see..'

Vahletharien says 'And so I have tailored my items to such, humble as they are. Three pairs of gloves.'

Vahletharien says 'My ability to conquer...'

Vahletharien gives a pair of scholarly reading gloves to Mairra.

Mairra inspects the gloves

Vahletharien says 'Just as the skin of the fox was formed into those...'

Vahletharien says 'I will stay alert, to protect againts those that may try to uproot, or outwit.'

Vahletharien coughs loudly.

A wry little smile crosses Vahletharien's face.

Mairra says 'Example?'

Mairra nods.

Voebyn has arrived.

Voebyn leaves.

Vahletharien says 'That I am willing to do, what must be done.'

Voebyn has arrived.

Voebyn says 'Ugh. Took me long enough.'

A wry little smile crosses Voebyn's face.

Mairra nods at Voebyn.

Voebyn looks at Mairra.

You see a disarmingly beautiful elven woman with long, flowing, golden hair
and huge, sparkling, bright blue eyes. She is of medium height, but seems
somehow taller due to the graceful way in which she moves her body, an almost
animal quality which defies description. Her skin is somewhat darker than
many of her kind, and her clothing seems slightly soiled as though she and
it both have seen many days out of doors. She clutches a musical instrument
in one delicate hand, indicating that perhaps she is a musician of some
variety, and you see a variety of weapons strapped to her body as well.
She appears to have colored her clothing various shades of green and brown,
the pattern of which seems almost too natural to be coincidence and reminds
you somehow of a forest clearing. She scans the area with her lovely eyes,
casually taking in what is to be seen. And when she moves, she moves as
silently as the passing breeze.
Mairra, a female elf, is in perfect health.
Mairra is using:
<worn around neck> (Glowing) (Humming) the Starjewel Necklace
<worn on body> a lovely blue evening gown
<held> (Humming) a silver lyre

Vahletharien bows before Mairra.

The lightning has stopped.

Voebyn says 'Beautiful as always, sweets.'

Voebyn says 'Got some gifts for ya.'

Mairra says to Voebyn 'One moment, please.'

Voebyn nods.

Mairra says to Vahletharien 'Thank you for the gifts. I was told to be very selective, and so I must await the other hunters before I decide.'

Mairra smiles, and motions for Voebyn to sit.

Mairra looks at Voebyn.

Voebyn sits down on the ground.

Mairra says to Voebyn 'I see you have brought one of your creatures with you.'

Voebyn nods.

(48 H-Drw War) (TRIBUNAL) Voebyn the General

Voebyn is a handsome young man. He has somewhat ruffled and unkempt hair
managed only with a bit of twine to keep it in line behind his neck. His eyes
are blue, like the sky or sea. His skin suggests he was working in the sun,
but his frame is slightly more slender than most men, and his ears have the
slight curve of half-elvish heritage, suggesting his skin tone may be due to
a different result. But an unusual quality is his obvious upper-body
strength, as his arms are quite developed for a half-elf, one could trace
their fingers along his forearm and be reminded of gently rolling hills.
Voebyn, a male half-drow, is in perfect health.
Voebyn is using:
<worn around neck> a living Boa Constrictor
<worn on body> the hide of the Ancient Blue Dragon

Vahletharien says to Voebyn 'A real hunter finds his prey before any other.'

Vahletharien stands up.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'uizug'.
Vahletharien fades out of existence.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'oculoinfra uizug'.

Mairra giggles into her hands.

Voebyn says 'Sure. But not before dying horribly to a pack of wolves and then using his insubstantialness to find it.'

Vahletharien utters the words, 'qpaiizr pzah'.
Vahletharien begins to chant in low tones. As he finishes, you notice his face becoming flushed.

Vahletharien chuckles politely.

Vahletharien says 'Wolves?'

Voebyn says 'I'd have to say, since you found her without being material, you lose, pal.'

Vahletharien says 'That's was not the case either, actually.'

Mairra says to Voebyn 'He found me before, but then was attacked here'

Voebyn shrugs indifferently.

Vahletharien says to Voebyn 'But I have not come here to converse with you.'

Vahletharien sits down and rests.

Mairra smiles happily.

Voebyn says 'I'd have killed him too if he just sat there begging to be ambushed.'

Voebyn says 'If I were whoever got you.'

A wry little smile crosses Voebyn's face.

Mairra says 'Please, gentlemen, you have both impressed me with your ability to find this place with only my clues.'

Mairra says to Voebyn 'You have come bearing gifts, did you say?'

Voebyn nods.

Voebyn says 'But I'm waiting till the other hunters get here, unless you're that eager to see 'em.'

Voebyn kisses Mairra passionately.

Mairra sings 'We'll sing all night, and drink all day,

Amaranthe chants some sorts into her hands as she holds up a small totem before the pair, speaking in ancient mantras.

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Vahletharien respectfully nods his head.

The earth rumbles in solemn tones.

(Invis) Vahletharien is here.

Mairra is here.

The wind suddenly roars into a brisk frenzy as the rumbling increases.

Mairra holds onto Voebyn's arm.

Suddenly, an apparition of Mairra and Voebyn locked in an embrace appears before you..

Voebyn gently strokes along Mairra's waist, and squeezes.

Vahletharien drinks water from a metal canteen insulated in a wolf's pelt.

Her elven form, garbed in simple beauty, entwines with the half-drow, his tinted flesh only adorned in a long, living serpent.

The lightning has stopped.

Mairra smiles happily.

The rumbling increases as the forms of the lover's embrace fade and shift; she into that of a young, earthy maiden, and he into that of a fierce wolf-headed barbarian.

Amaranthe closes her eyes and inhales deeply as she holds firmly onto the totem.

"Hunter King! My Hunter King! At last!"

Mairra glances around herself, her long hair blowing in the strong wind.

The image fades into a mist that again gathers into the single form of a behemoth of a man, garbed in wolf skins and wielding a mighty spear.

"Yes, I have awakened, my love! These mortals have sounded the cry that at last ends my slumber."

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Mairra smiles happily.

Mairra looks at Voebyn.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'oculoinfra uizug'.

"Yet.. you are still only of Spirit, my Hunter-King! When shall you be again of the flesh?"

The Hunter-King smiles as he gathers his ethereal form around his lover, "It is as we spoke of, my love. The time of the Ancients has returned. My place is still with them, to rouse them as well from the Realm of Dreams."

The Goddess of the Harvest Moon nods in consent. "Yes my love. What will happen next?"

Without another wood, the Hunter-King lifts his a might hunter's horn to his lips and lets out a mighty bellow that thunders through the land.

The horn's echo fades and falls silent.

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Vahletharien smiles softly.

Suddenly, a wisp of a spirit appears, soaring skyward at remarkable speed.

Mairra drinks water from a bottle of hyena's brew.

Another follows. Another. And another.

The lightning has stopped.

The rain ceases.

Voebyn drinks water from a metal canteen insulated in a wolf's pelt.

Hundreds of spirits soar through the sky, dancing as they dart into the firmaments like countless dancing stars.

The Hunter-King cries, "Yes, my brothers and sisters of the past! Awaken! Awaken for the time has come for us to reclaim our place among those who have forgotten our names!"

"The time of the Ancients is close at hand!"

You hear the cry of a barbarian in the distance cry out, "JOHEEM!"

It starts to rain.

Amaranthe beams with joy and passion as she watches her mate and lover woven back into the Cycle anew.

Mairra looks at Amaranthe.

Voebyn smiles happily.
Vahletharien looks at Amaranthe.

The Hunter-King smiles in turn as he kneels before her, and places a small object firmly into her hand.

Voebyn says 'Now, that's a sight that makes my heart glad in a genuine fashion I haven't felt in ages.'

Lightning flashes in the sky.

The Hunter-King looks up to his mate and says, "Take this, my love. You and I shall bear fruit once again upon this land. Plant it and nurture it as the protectress of all growing things."

Amaranthe says to Voebyn 'You may live to eat those words, Voebyn'

Amaranthe smiles slightly.

Voebyn laughs heartily.

Voebyn says 'Lady of the Harvest Moon...'

Voebyn says 'I have one request as a Hunter.'

Voebyn says 'And I really need you to listen...'

"I shall, my love.." The Goddess clasps the seed close to her heart.

The lightning has stopped.

Vahletharien utters the words, 'oculoinfra uizug'.

Mairra eats a warm chunk of bread.

"I did not doubt it. For now, I must leave you. You and I shall be reunited again when the seed sprouts and the Ancients can influence these mortals once more."

Mairra beams a smile out to the world.

The rain ceases.

Voebyn gets some flat bread from a cowhide knapsack.

Voebyn gets some flat bread from a cowhide knapsack.

Voebyn eats some flat bread.

Voebyn eats some flat bread.

Suddenly, the form of the Hunter-King morphs into that of a great wolf. With a whisper, he bounds into the heavens after the other spirits, leaving Amaranthe behind, clutching her single seed.

Amaranthe sighs deeply as her lips part into a secret smile.

Amaranthe says to Voebyn 'What is it, Voebyn?'

Voebyn says 'Know this... the Storm's long hunted my kind.'

Voebyn says 'You know that. You also know that were the guardians of the forests still about today, they would have denied me this chance to help your heart.'

Mairra nods sadly.

Voebyn says 'I'm a Hunter, but also a Lawman, originally to protect my kind, because our blood is diluted enough that we are of the lands again, as any human or dwarf or elf.'

It starts to rain.

Amaranthe says 'They would not have denied it, Voebyn. Your will is always your own, no matter who hunts you.'

Voebyn nods.

Vahletharien nods wisely.

Voebyn says 'I always coveted the freedom of those races in the forests. I want the Storm to recognize our will as creatures of the lands.'

Voebyn says 'Can you aid me in that? I don't want it declared in the blood of the Sylvans, but with the peace of our love to you.'

Amaranthe says 'The Sylvans are no more, Voebyn, I declare nothing of them or for they that do not exist'

Amaranthe says 'But..'

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Voebyn raises a fist slowly.

Voebyn says 'Just... please... tell me I'm not a dirty defiler because of my heritage.'

Vahletharien drinks water from a metal canteen insulated in a wolf's pelt.

Amaranthe says to Voebyn 'You are not a dirty defiler because of your heritage.'

Amaranthe smiles gently.

Amaranthe says 'Your actions may prove otherwise, but because of your heritage, no'

Voebyn says 'Thanks... That's all I wanted to know in my heart. I know the Cycle doesn't recognize fairness and justice... but it made no sense.'

Amaranthe says 'The Warders oft lost sight of this, condemning those more for wickedness it seemed, than for actions. I hear your request, and if any come to ask me of it, I shall tell them such as well'

Voebyn nods.

Amaranthe says to Voebyn 'I would pray you consider your actions however. However you are judged for your actions has naught to do with the blood that runs in your veins'

Voebyn nods.

Voebyn says 'I understand my actions have consequences... I am a town guard after all. But I'm not a defiler because my mother was in the wrong place at the wrong time.'

Amaranthe says 'To this, I will consent. You have proved at least that much this day.'

Voebyn says 'And I just wanted the heavens to help others who would hunt me for that to remember it as well.'

Voebyn respectfully kneels before Amaranthe.

Mairra smiles happily.

Voebyn says 'I remembered what it was like to feel that part of you missing. I'm glad we set things on the right path for ya.'

Voebyn beams a smile at Amaranthe.

Amaranthe says 'I shall make sure of it, in as much as I have power to, though it may affect you little among those who would seek to return balance to Thera'

Amaranthe says 'But perhaps a little more peace can be made for those who might call you cousin'

Vahletharien whispers to Amaranthe 'Who is Joheem?'

Mairra nods at Voebyn.

The lightning has stopped.

Mairra says to Amaranthe 'And I know my choice was ironic, but I am glad it worked out this way.'

The rain ceases.

Vahletharien chuckles politely.

Voebyn says 'Things get like that around me, but I learn to live with it. Heheh.'

Mairra says to Amaranthe 'Because it always troubled me that his kind were hunted, at times for no good reason other than racial lineage'

Voebyn snickers softly.

The clouds disappear.

Mairra says to Voebyn 'I certainly hope you do not live to regret it, however.'

Mairra smiles happily.

Voebyn eats a small black root.

Voebyn gets some flat bread from a cowhide knapsack.

Voebyn eats some flat bread.

Voebyn eats some flat bread.

Voebyn shakes his head.

Voebyn says 'If I'm hunted now for being a lawman... it's at least more valid than being a bastard. At least the rest of my mixed cousins can breathe easy.'

Amaranthe says 'It can be difficult for some to discern wickedness from defilement'

Amaranthe says 'And your blood is associated with the wicked'

Voebyn nods.

Voebyn says 'I'm not really truly wicked. Well, at least more than being a hunter of maidens.'

Voebyn reaches around Mairra's backside and gooses her tenderly.

Amaranthe says 'Even I do not allow those who walk the left-hand path to walk within my Temple, though it be for distrust, not for disdain'

Amaranthe says 'If a fisherman builds his house on stilts, it's not because he hates the tides'
The sky is getting cloudy.

Voebyn nods.

The animation leaves Mairra's body.
The animation returns to Mairra's body.

It starts to rain.

Voebyn says 'Like I was saying. I'm not really truly wicked. At least not more than being a Hunter of Maidens anyway.'

Voebyn reaches around Mairra's backside and gooses her tenderly.

Mairra gives Voebyn a crooked smile.

Amaranthe says to Mairra 'I thank you again, Mairra. Your performance as Maiden shall not be soon forgotton, and your grace to find so many suitors may find your charm and beauty growing as you age'

Amaranthe winks at Mairra.

Mairra giggles with pleasure.

Mairra says to Amaranthe 'Thank you, dear Lady.'

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Voebyn says 'Hey, it'd be harder for her to get much nicer to look at, but I'm ready and willing to find out how!'

Voebyn rubs his hands together in greedy anticipation.

Amaranthe looks at the single seed in the palm of her hand.

Vahletharien beams a smile at Amaranthe.

Amaranthe says 'Well I linger too long. I must see to the planting of my seed. Pray that what grows from it, grows swiftly and true.'

Voebyn says 'May the embrace of your Hunter King be akin to mine!'

Mairra says 'I will'

Vahletharien says 'We will.'

Vahletharien nods.

Amaranthe chuckles politely.

Amaranthe rolls her eyes, disgusted.

Vahletharien says 'Or hopefully not.'

With a sweep of her earthen cloak, Amaranthe vanishes in a swirl of autumn leaves.

Vahletharien smirks.

Mairra says to Voebyn 'You are really too much sometimes.'

Mairra giggles with pleasure.

Voebyn says 'Hey, you chose me over him for a reason.'

Vahletharien stands up.

Voebyn says 'If I wasn't, I'd be a pansy.'

Mairra says 'I just liked the snake really.'

Mairra shrugs indifferently.

Voebyn says 'Anyway. I want to taste more of that hyena brew on your lips.'

Mairra winks suggestively.

Voebyn kisses Mairra passionately.

Vahletharien says 'Truly this jerkin smells.'

Vahletharien mutters something quietly to himself.

Vahletharien stops using a thick jerkin of animal furs.

Vahletharien sacrifices a thick jerkin of animal furs to the gods.

Vahletharien wears a silver plate mail vest with a red dragon crest on his body.

Vahletharien wears an elegant green robe about his body.

The lightning has stopped.

Mairra laughs so hard she cries.

A wry little smile crosses Voebyn's face.

Vahletharien wears a pair of hiking boots on his feet.

Vahletharien stops using a simple leather hood sewn with catgut twine.

Vahletharien wears a Templar's crown on his head.

Vahletharien says 'To be fair though...'

Vahletharien says 'I do not think I was properly informed by a particular dwarf.'

Vahletharien chuckles politely.

Mairra nods at Vahletharien.

Voebyn says to Vahletharien 'It's not my fault she has taste, pal.'

Vahletharien smirks.

Mairra says to Vahletharien 'Another reason I chose Voebyn really. He was there to get the instructions firsthand'

Vahletharien utters the words, 'qpaiizr pzah'.
Vahletharien begins to chant in low tones. As he finishes, you notice his face becoming flushed.

Vahletharien says 'It was an impossibility for me, unfortunately.'

The rain ceases.

Mairra says to Vahletharien 'And he led me to find out what I must do as well'

Mairra nods.

Voebyn nods.

Mairra says 'I know'

Mairra wears the Ankh of Loch Terradian around her neck.

It starts to rain.

Voebyn gets the Dark Rod of Conquest.

Voebyn says 'Heh.'

Voebyn says 'You still want this?'

Lightning flashes in the sky.

Holding up the Dark Rod of Conquest, Voebyn nods.

Mairra says 'Ugh no thanks'

Vahletharien says 'Ah, yes...well...fair days to you both.'

Vahletharien walks off into the surrounding forest.

(Red Aura) (Glowing) A shield lies here burning.
Some flowers lie strewn about.
A beautiful pool mirrors the sky.
Voebyn is here.
Mairra is resting here.
