Chapter 1

Laying on the ground, his back resting against the trunk of a mighty tree,
Vinoth dozed. Like a piece of city garbage he had been tossed in the river.
A baby, just born, wrapped in rags still covered in his mothers juices.A
wooden vegetable crate his ride down the rapidly flowing river.For hours he
floated down the river, his crate battering against rocks in the rapids and
almost tipping over and losing its precious cargo many times. Eventually the
waters calmed upon reaching the western swamps.He cried and cried, needing
sustenance else this fateful journey be the short end to his life. His cry's
alerted a group of Glauruks who found him. The Glauruks gave him food and
drink which saved his petty life. Eventually the Matriarch decided to not
end his life and he was allowed to stay with them. He flourished in the
swamps learning to hunt and gather with the Glauruk young. Being taught as
Glauruks that civilization is bad and their home would be destroyed if those
folk were allowed free pass. Not wanting to draw unwanted attention from the
city to the east, the Matriarch found some rangers that would take the
toddler Vinoth from them. He was now around eight years old and begun to
learn language from the rangers. He traveled with them for years. Traveling
the lands, being taught the ways of the wilds, hunting, foraging, nurturing,
and weapons. A half breed outcast, he knew nothing of his parents. Although
he found peace in the wilds, there was a part of him that was shunned by his
new tribe, a part of him that he wanted to be rid of, a part of him that tore
at his very being, the civilized part!
