Chapter 1

Kardok's beginnings
Added Sun Jan 11 21:33:41 2004 at level 51:

Two things are feared above all else in the fire mountain, The Lord Kiadana's
strength, and the poisons of his half-drow wife. Even the Lord knows that his
death can be arranged by thelady Kiadana's poisons. That single fact shaped
Kardok's life more than any other. For though Kardok is the Lord's only direct
offspring with a full blooded fire giant, that fact is known to only a select
few. Kardok's mother was beautiful to any fire giant male. That is to say her
power and strength surpassed all but a select few males. And so she and the Lord
spent a night together, the fruition of this night was Kardok. When it was found
that she was with child, the Lord promtly threw one of the weakest of his offspring
to die in a battle with Drathgar. Then, Kardok's mother died during his birth, but
not from his birth. Because strength is everything in the Mountain, and Kardok's
parents had been to weak to survive, Kardok was to go through life with the title
of Sisin before his surname of Rah, making his last name Sisin'Rah. In the tongue
of the fire giant, Sisin basically means weak, and destined to failure because of it.
Thus defines the two ruling emotions in Kardok's life. First, Kardok's desire to
destroy those fire giants who hold status on him even though they are weaker than
he is, and second, to proove his strength to those who still call him Sisin'Rah, that
he may change his surname and his whole line shall not be forever branded as Sisin.
Even for a fire giant, Kardok faced a tough childhood. The Lord did not want a weak
offspring to survive, especially one who could potentially get him killed, so he
decided that Kardok would have to earn his right to survive. In the warrior classes,
Kardok was forced to fight in battles he could not win. He often faced students twice
his age, or two or three students his own age. Life is made tougher for those in the
mountain who are weak, so nothing was thought out of the ordinary for Kardok to be
beaten to a bloody mess every day. Tough training to the fire giant would be
inexplicable torture to any other race, but through this training, something began
to happen to Kardok. Soon, he began to hold his own against the older students, and
sometimes began to come out the victor against two and three opponents of his own
age. When he would defeat groups of three, he would beat their unconcious bodies
worse than he had been beaten by them. Which, in turn, only made life more difficult
for him when he would lose to them. Kardok was undoubtedly the strongest warrior
in his class or the two classes above him, but still he was branded as Sisin, and
the title was held over him even by those he easily defeated in battle. Then, when
Kardok was about half way through training, and was rarely losing fights anymore, he
was chosen as the graduation battle for the strongest warrior in the finishing class.
The son of the Lord and Lady Kiadana Rah. It was deemed by most who did not know
the village were there the day that Kardok took on a fully matured warrior, while he
was still only coming into what would be the teenage years of a human. Kardok knew
that this was his chance to rid himself of the Sisin name. He trained hard for the
last months before the battle. But the Lady Kiadana had done her research, she
learned of Kardok's strength, and sent many warriors to beat him to within an inch
of his life. Kardok would never be ready to fight by
