Chapter 3

This is a brief list of things Duvlek holds true, his beliefs that guide his
actions.

Duvlek is surprisingly straightforward, he thinks that you must be
trustworthy and believable so you can conceal what counts. He also thinks
concealing is not as cut and dry as literally hiding something. The way he
fights, to lure his opponents into thinking they are winning, is a way of
concealment to him. Furthermore, he talks a lot about the one Victory. This
is very important to him, truly, but he also means to imply that he was born
under the sphere of Victory, so that he seems more straightforward and
trustworthy to those who overhear him. He's not lying, Victory is his
endgoal. But he's lying about the way he truly intends to achieve it.

In a slight correlation to this, Duvlek realizes that he does not worship an
Imperial Lord. He respects the Imperial Lords immensely, and places them
highly, but they are not his sovereign. He bows to Verathi. However, he
intends to be very warm and friendly to not only his superiors in the Empire,
but also his equals. Yes, your equals cannot exercise power over you...but
they could, and it is good to cull favor early. Once he has more power, he
will treat his lessers with more disdain, but he will likely still favor
promising lesser Imperials. The promising ones never stay lessers for long,
they will soon be equals. Until Duvlek arises to the Throne, of course.

Duvlek's end goal is to become Emperor. He left the position of Prince in
Aran'gird, sacrificing everything to start over from scratch. But he is not
interested in carving out merely a good life for himself. He intends to trade
up, and the only way he can see to trade up from being a Prince is to become
High Priest, and ultimately, Emperor.
