Chapter 4

Titivilus the Sword of Baal lay broken before his infernal liege.
His massive wings and claws pinned to the throne with thick iron nails.
His failure had been enormous, and so would be his punishment. As the
war waged within the streets of Dis, a small unencumbered party of Maran
fought their way into the Palace and to the Hammer. Caught off guard the
Sword and its minions could not stop the hammer from being carried off.
Although all but one of the Maran Commando party perished, most of them
at the hands of Titivilus. The last survivor was able to whisk away the
Hammer to safety and rejoin the Maran force. As the horns of retreat
sounded and resounded across the city, the Maran force retreated back
out of the city. What little was left of it, a full three fourths of those
that had come were claimed within the walls of the Infernal City.
Yet their victory was clear, the Overgod of the Light had succeeded in
rescuing the Dwarven Thane from his infernal prison. An infuriated Baal
turned on his Sword for failig him. It was not believed that a Devil of
Titivilus's power could be executed. Yet that was the sentence given to
him by Baal. And no one had ever dared doubt the power that was Baal.
As the hours to his execution began to draw close Titivilus's pleading
earned him a reprieve. There was no mercy in Baal, yet the thirst for
revenge had long since turned into a Bloodlust.
The Sword of Baal would be given one chance to earn back his unlife.
