Chapter 1

Many aeons passed as the golem existed in the service of K'teng.
It had no thought, no ability, and no conscience besides the
indomitable need to serve the will of it's mistress. Time had
no meaning to the golem, as it did not to it's trapped mistress.
Adventurers and heroes came and went, seeking K'teng's secrets.
Woe to those who caught the golem's sight.

A blinding flash of light erupted in the surface. Kharia had
performed the Ghost Dance, seeking to instill herself into the
strongest source of magic. The dust and air within K'teng's
laboratory shuddered as the thick coat of magic in the air
trumpeted Twist's awakening. As did the long dormant magic
that created the golem. Ancient memories ripped away from the
original piece of lava struggled to come to the surface,
battling with the programming instilled by K'teng. Ferocious
urges shook the foundation of the golem, and slowly it came
to life. Twist's reawakening had brought it's fated existance
to a standstill.

The first thought that arose from the mind of the golem was
anger. Rage at the last moments of it's life, where piddly
insects fought against it's great hulk and power. Rage a the
inconsequential abilities they held, until a great light
shafted it's heart, and it screamed of anger as those it once
thought inferior were burnt into the wall. The thousands of
years it's once mighty conscience slowly bled from it's
shattered form until only primal and animalistic urges were left.

Slowly this rage came to pass as the magic imbued within it
resonated with Twist's might. Confusion swirled in it's mind,
in his mind, and a new sentience emerged. A strange sense of
thirst and hunger brought groans from it's mouth, his throat,
and he began to wander the laboratory. Loud crunching sound
echoed from the once soundless hallways. It's great hulk was
balanced by the magic sputtering and coalescing in his mind.
He understood how he was used, manipulated, and toyed with by
K'teng...yet, K'teng's ability had given the chance for the
great beast to come back to life. However - it was the
Lifegiver, the source of Magic, that which was a passage to
power unseen, that brought it life. As he deemed K'teng
unworthy to serve, his reverence, still embedded his conscience
after ages of servitude, directed itself toward the Lifegiver,
Twist. Magic was the source of his life, the source of its
death, and in his unconscious mind, unknown to the current
sentience inhabitig the golem's hulk, the source of the great
beast's awakening. He decided to call himself Venecfis - the
name that those of Aran'gird chose to give the great beast.
