Chapter 1

For many years, Grinok tried to follow the path of Cyradia, of not only being strong
but also punishing those who were blinded. Soon, Grinok came to understand that Destruction
was not the purpose for his strength, though he sought to follow it unsuccessfully for quite some time.
Grinok continued to test himself regularly in fights, always fighting any who would challenge him,
always seeking to hone his strength. He did take one thing from Cyradia though, that he kept,
and that being that a person must have a purpose in who he kills, and Grinok was still seeking
a purpose, when an arial named Ristun decided to tell him about the ways of the Battlerager, when
another of his village, Rawnie, saw Grinok carrying many magical items. Ristun made many good points,
most of them going right over Grinok's tall head, except when he spoke of strength, and magic's ability
to weaken a person. Grinok listened very carefully as Ristun explained that magic makes a person slave
to it, making Grinok angry to the point of attacking Ristun. But Ristun said he was not taunting Grinok,
only speaking the truth, so Grinok decided to think about what Ristun had said, and give up his
magical items while he thought about it.
