In the Foothills 
  The path climbs up towards a high pass over the mountains.  The path
has almost disappeared in many places, blocked with fallen stones.  The air
swirls with a chilly wind.  The path continues deeper into the mountains to
the east and goes down into the foothills to the south.

Temple 
  Here at the heart of the Great Temple, a wide circular dais mirrors the
sweeping curves of the dome of colored glass high above.  Large enough to
hold a hundred or so of the devoted around its perimeter, five coal pits form 
a glowing ring around the altar to the desert city's pantheon of deities, 
separating the blessed from the profane.  Large urns of smoked glass and
darkened iron serve as receptacles for donations to the Temple and the city's
unfortunate.  To the north and south a few steps lead down to the lowest
floor of the Temple.
