Chapter 5

Today, in the heart of the wilds where the ancient trees stand as witnesses
to the passing of ages, a profound revelation has graced my existence.
The ancients, those mysterious and revered beings who guide our sanctuary in
the refuge, have cast their gaze upon me with a decision that fills me with
disbelief and awe.

As a sentinel, my path was one of devotion to the principles of our refuge,
a dedication to the protection of Thar-Eris against defilers and those who
would seek to harm this sacred land. I've spent countless days honing my
craft, learning the secrets of the wilds, and immersing myself in the ancient
teachings of the bark. It was a calling I embraced with every fiber of my
being, and my spirit is bound to the totem.

Astonishingly, the ancients have chosen me, Merigaeld Thunderhart, for a role
that I had never dared to dream of: the role of the Harbinger of Thar-Eris.
The Harbinger, the leader of the sentinels, a guardian chosen by the ancients
themselves. It is a responsibility of unparalleled magnitude, and the mere
thought of it fills me with shock and disbelief!

To lead as the Harbinger is an honor beyond words, a privilege granted to
only the most devout and dedicated among us. It is a mantle of great weight,
a symbol of unwavering commitment to the sanctuary and the natural order. The
Harbinger stands as a vision of prophecy, a protector against the encroaching
darkness, a beacon of freedom.

My heart swells with happiness and humility at this incredible opportunity,
an opportunity to rise to the highest calling within the great tree. I am
filled with gratitude for the trust the ancients have placed in me, and a
deep sense of duty stirs within my very soul. The path ahead is daunting,
filled with challenges and trials that I cannot yet foresee, but I embrace it
with open arms, for I know that with the guidance of the ancients and the
support of my fellow sentinels, I can rise to meet any adversity that may
come our way.

As I prepare to take on this new role, I am reminded of the teachings of Lord
Ergush, the ancient wisdom that has shaped our refuge. I carry his spirit
with me, and with the blessing of the ancients, I shall strive to protect and
preserve the beauty and balance of Thar-Eris. If my last act to him is to
serve as Harbinger, than I have completed a great challenge. I look forward
to sharing these moments with Joihe and think her wise words about paths
presenting themselves when you least expect it. This path is a rare one and
I would not have survived without my faith in both.
