Chapter 3

Gazru was ever steady to his commitment and path. He had left a handful of
corpses in his wake, becoming one of the most feared and promising berserkers
in the battle rager village. He was ferocious and unrelenting, every swing of
his hammer dealing devastating and deadly blows to every enemy he faced. His
tactics at this point had worked for him, true to the path of the berserker.
Fight on, fight hard, no fear, no mercy and no quarter given. The berserkers
were the front line and the force of the village. Only the fiercest fighters
were worthy of the title. Gazru tried to inspire the others of the village
with pure violence, which had led him to great success so far. He inspired
true terror in those that saw him in their path, his reputation for blood and
crushed bones was quickly becoming legend across the lands. The commander
himself had seen his potential and commented on his deadliness. Gazru was
pleased and proud to have the commander's pride in him. He would become the
most feared and deadly berserker in the village, proving himself the mightiest
giant alive through sheer force of will and desire for vengeance for his
family.

Chapter 2

Things became tense at the lumberyard after his sons first birthday. Thera was
an ever changing battlefield, and the battlefield had started to spill into
the Lumberyard. One day, the Imperial army and the Maran of the Fortress were
locked in battle near Galadon, and a powerful necromancer of the black sect
had retreated to the lumberyard wounded and looking to invigorate himself. The
necromancer began a terrible slaughter of the cloud giants there, his negative
unholy magics twisting the flesh of his people harshly from the violet curse
that had long plagued his people. Deathly touch by deathly touch, Gazu's kin
began to fall. As the necromancer made his way through the lumberyard towards
Gazru's family, Gazru threw himself in front of his wife and child in an
attempt to stop the black mage. Gazru was hit by deathly magic, and wounded
gravely a touch away from death. The last thing he saw before he passed out
was the life being sucked out of his wife and child, watching the life wither
from his wifes eyes.

When Gazru woke, the lumberyard was in ruins. His father, mother, wife and son
all lay dead around him, their bodies twisted and withered away by necromantic
magics. Everyone he grew up with and knew was dead. He was wounded deeply,
barely having enough strength to build a pyre and burn his family in an
honorable burial. He then limped himself to Galadon and collapsed at the
temple. He awoke to a man tending to his wounds. Not a priest, but a defender
of the village of Battleragers. He had heard about the battle there and saw
Gazru near death at the temple, and had used poultices and field dressings to
keep him alive. Gazru thanked the man, and swore from that day that he would
use his hammer to crush wielders of magic, every last one of them until the
day that the power of the gods was in the hands of mortals no more. Only then
would he retire, and return to working an anvil and forge in peace. He would
avenge his family and son one mage at a time.

Chapter 1

Gazru was born in Galadon to hard working parents who had fled the northern
mountains south, in hopes of a better life away from the turmoils of war. His
mother and father, once devout royal guards for the King of all cloud giants,
were capable fighters, but had learned to appreciate peace. When his mother
became pregnant with Gazru, they laid down their weapons and moved to Galadon
where commerce was good and jobs were plentiful. Both of them were adept with
many weapons, so they got jobs working for the foreman Tarus in the lumberyard
cutting down trees and refining the lumber for sale to the city. They worked
hard and kept their heads down, caring only for the future of Gazru. Gazru
grew up working in the lumberyard as well, but was not a lumberjack himself.
Instead, he found himself adept with hammers working the forge and smithing
axes for his parents and the other lumberjacks to use. He was good at his job,
and he excelled to the point of becoming the head smith in the lumberyard. As
he grew up into a young adult, he met a woman that took his heart and within a
year, they were married. They in turn had a son, and his parents were
delighted to have a grandchild. Gazru was happy, he had a family and was a
simple giant with a simple life. He had everything he needed in his family,
and enjoyed the work he did. The simple life suited him well.
