Chapter 1

Skrukch was born into a small Kindred of Felar that lived in the deep wilds
somewhere north of the Grove. His people lived in harmony with the wilds,
hunting and gathering as needed, never living in excess or taking more than
She could provide. Although they lived a primitive existence, they had an
inkling of the outside world from those that had escaped the hells that
existed in the world and found a home with Skrikch's Kindred. One day, some
time ago, some Imperial soldiers stumbled across the small Felar camp. A
scuffle broke out and the armored soldiers killed a few of the elders and
soon exerted their dominance. The Captain could see potential for the
Empire. Rather than killing and burning all, he took a tribute of some hides
and cured meats. He also took a couple of felar as slaves. He told the
elders that for Imperial protection, they would come back once a year during
the Month of the Spring and collect the Tribute.

On one of these ill fated days, Skrukch was taken as a slave. He was only
young, barely a teen. For many years he was brutilased by the empire,
starved, tortured, and worked till he dropped. He was sent to the swamps of
the southern continent a nasty plague infested place where only the hardy
slaves survived. He was also worked as a slave aboard a imperial barge, and
was even chained to a gang building roads. As he was taken through the many
cities, he noticed the populace would not even notice the plight of the
slaves, they would go about their day to day activities with out thought of
the plight before them.One day, many years after his enslavement, he
managed to escape into the night, his shackles had rusted and weakened over
time, and he was able to free himself and sneak away. Living of the land,
his wounds slowly healed and he gained strength. One day, his spirit was
awakened when he stumbled across a rock in the woods. It showed him visions
of sylvans past, and of loss, sorrow, but also hope of a new beginning, one
of wild freedom. He knew that all must perish for Thar-eris to return, as
too many sit idly by and do nothing and let the plague of Civilization
spread.You are either one with Thar-eris, or you are against us, there is
no middle ground.
