Chapter 4

To summarize Hrakeshs thoughts on Order, the cities and the Spire he has
created a painting as was distributed briefly to the citizens of Thera.

A copy is enclosed here.

The painting before you is made in stone, and different minerals and crystals
replace what would normally be done with paint. The artist has not placed
much time on details, but rather the different objects and people in it are
simple yet clear in what they are. The picture stands two sided. On the left
you see a city as if sliced verticly in half, starting with half a stony city
wall with dignified guards standing on top dressed in crimson mantles and
wielding long spears. It continues with stone houses with wooden ceilings
where happy men and women, both humans and of other races stand baking,
butchering or - inside a house with the sign Apotechary - mixing potions.
Rising high in the middle stands a massive triangular gray Spire. Outside of
it stands a regal captain of the guards next to a metal pedestal of a
blindfolded lady.

As your gaze move up in the Spire you see at it's top gazing out of one of
the massive windows an elderly blond man of distinctively elvish features.
Continuing to the right more stone buildings follow with signs of the
warriors guild, and a brightly lit inn. The city ends with another city wall
where more guards stand vigilant gazing out over the road that leaves the
confines of the city to the right, carrying out into a stone road through
cultivated fields and small farms. This is where the right half of the
picture begins.

As your gaze follows the road right the farms change into a dark forest and
standing on the road you spot a humanoid barbarian figure dressed in furry
animal hides with several heads hanging from his belt. He is raising a
massive hammer in the direction of a short gnomish mage who seem to be caught
in a cloud of magical energy between his own short form and that of a vicious
rhinoceros.

Behind them hangs a snare from a forest tree, and up in the tree you can spot
two burning eyes peering intently on the snare. Further down the road you see
a number of darkly dressed thieves in a circle kicking someone lying in the
middle. Behind them a tall pale dark-elf stands with a gaunt devil behind him
and a fiery elemental charging after some poor travellers. Stringing the side
of the forest road lies corpses spread.

CHOOSE CIVILIZATION. CHOOSE ORDER. CHOOSE PROGRESS. CHOOSE SAFETY. CHOOSE
THERA.

Role

Chapter 3

Reaching the status of Justiciar Hrakesh noticed he had advanced as far as he
thought possible in order to advance Order in the cities without holding the
title of Provost itself. He is satisfied with the tools available to him to
ensure none trick the law and induce disorder. It has not been a light nor
short journey, but he stands pleased that his dedication has paid off.
Perhaps one day it will push further to the Provost role as he secretly
hopes.

Being a follower of Lord Umiron he has recently expanded his studies outside
that of Order and the cities to also include Magic. More specifically the
nature of the veil - and after lengthy discussions with his guildmaster,
Hrakesh has learned some tricks to manipulating the veil. Though he
understands that it is not a specific aspect of the religion he enjoys to
anew hold the role of student after years of finishing his elemental
masteries.

As he has grown older and more mature his reasoning on the Outlanders is
slowly shifting, from the absolute antithesis to the Spire and the cities he
now differentiates Nature from Chaos. The wild in themselves have a sort of
order: seasons come and go according to patterns and even animals are in the
end bound to rules of feeding, mating and surviving. If the ground is of
good composition the tree takes root and grows over the years. This realization
has not changed his belief that war is necessary against the Tree. It simply
has matured to differentiate nature from chaos.

Role

Chapter 2

Civilization is a triumph of mind over matter, of reason over instinct, and
of the distinctly good over our savage nature. It allows us to grow past the
fight or flight nature of the animal to expand ourselves by higher studies in
fields ranging from masonry to planar travel. We create advanced tools and we
cultivate our minds in arts of philosophy, music and art.

We make this possible through specialization. The Hunters sell their game to
the butcher and buys bread from the baker and sends his children to guilds to
teach them crafts, safe behind massive walls as winters wolves approach.
Compare this to those who are forced to fight for survival deep in the
forests outside Udgaard.

The founding component for civilization is Order. We all obey rules, not only
the Laws to protect us, but also commercial and even social. I know the gold
I earn today can be used to buy food tomorrow. I do not assault my neighbor
if I desire his belongings. I can perhaps convince him to sell it to me for
something I hold that he needs. We can both emerge greater from it where the
savage would tell you just take it without second thought.

Not all share this view. Agents of Chaos would fool you with words of
"Strength" and "Purity" in merciless killings and looting. I realize they are
but disorganized thugs. Potentially dangerous, but ultimately they will fall
to the advancement of civilization. Reformed or destroyed in the name of
Order.

I stand as a Magistrate to serve Civilization, to serve Thera. The thoughts
of revenge of my past have shifted into this realization. This is my role in
this life.

Role

Chapter 1

Background
Back in the second age at in an Underdark settlement which the svirfenebli
Hrakesh lived in was attacked by a flock of displacer beasts created by the
chaos archmage Zanterton the Foul. As a last resort to save the younglings of
the settlement the present mages cast a complicated spell turning the
children into stone statues. The rest of the village eventually fell to the
displacer beasts and was never recovered.

Ages later the dark-elven sorceress Kteng passed by the now ruined settlement
in search for components for her golems. The combination of her channeling
from the negative plane and a thin veil that night began to unwrap the spell
that kept the Hrakesh in his statsis. Years later he finally broke free
though to him it seemed he had just been put there.

Through sheer luck and an affinity to speak with the stones Hrakesh managed
to reach the surface and sought training at the local elementalist guild.

Goals
Find and destroy any remnant of the ancient chaos archmage Zanterton the
Foul, and any of his equals.
Grow in power comparable to Zanterton so that he may be defeated. Do it in an
orderly fashion.

Personality
Dry, orderly and precocious. Sparks to life when he can speak of systems of
interlocking activities.
