Chapter 8

Sensing no magical auras around the woman Manno relaxed his grip on his weapons and
smiled apologetically as the woman stepped closer to him, inspecting him with the most
intriguing color changing eyes he had ever seen.
'An interesting man, you are Manno' the priestess said taking his hand into hers, 'you
see, I can see into your soul. I have been blessed with a rare gift of sight. I know about
your past. I know about the lusts that hold you. But, I do not believe it is just. What you
felt for Sana. It was not lust, Manno. It was love.'
Perplexed and a little shocked with this woman who knew so much about him, Manno
could only raise an eyebrow in question as she continued.
'Yes, love, Manno. Don't be ashamed, there is nothing wrong with love. You should
embrace it. Give up this foolish lust for mage skulls. You are still quite far still from
accomplishing the goal you proclaimed to Lord Daevryn of 30 skulls, anyhow. There is
no point. Your lust is a false emotion. Give it up and embrace the love you once felt for
Sana!' the priestess urged, doing her best to use a persuasive tone.

The words of the priestess brought Manno back to earth from the realm of curiosity and
he vigorously shook his head.
'You need to look harder priestess. I will not give up my desires. I will accomplish my
goals, even if it takes me my whole life. I will not fail and shame myself as a
BattleRager. As for Sana- maybe it was love. But, isn't love just another form of lust?
No, my desires are stronger than ever. Go spout your religion elsewhere. I have things to
accomplish.' And with that, Manno turned and stalked out of the shop.

'A stubborn and proud one he is' came a raspy unseen voice from the shadows. Nodding
with agreement, the priestess's form began to shimmer and shift into a grotesque looking
demon.
'It will happen. We will make sure he does not accomplish his goals and earn the favor of
Daevryn. So long as he fails, he will have no protection and his soul will be ours for his
sins of lust!' the priestess turned demon cackled wickedly.

Chapter 7

Manno floated on to the docks of Arkham and hungrily surveyed the crowd around him.
He took note of dockworkers moving cargo on and off ships, fishermen pulling in the
days catch to bring to market, and adventurers pulling up to the docks in their boats and
throwing them on to their backs before heading off to find excitement. So far, he hasn't
seen what he was looking for. Wait! There! He just caught a glimpse underneath the hood
of a robed woman and he could have sworn that he saw striking eyes that changed color.
Before he could take a second look the woman vanished into the crowd. That didn't
matter though, Manno's heart raced with excitement and want as he pushed his way
through the crowd after what he was hoping to be a mage.

Once on to the streets of Arkham he spotted the robed woman again turning into a quiet
little shop just on to a side street. Manno quickly pursued, calling forth his hatred of
magic to protect him as he prepared for battle. Carefully, Manno opened the door to the
shop and stepped in, trying not to surprise his quarry. There in the shop standing, as if she
knew he was coming, the woman calmly turned to him and pulled off her hood.
'By the beauty of Rayihn! There is no need for alarm' the woman said with an easy
smile, 'you are Manno ThunderArm of the Village of Battleragers, are you not? You can
relax. I am no mage. A priestess of Rayihn, rather.'

Chapter 6

Eventually, Manno did accomplish his goal of being named BattleRager. It wasn't long
after building his hut that he came across the Imperial Priest of Enlilth, Melememelem.
He battled the priest three times, and three times he foolishly let this priest outsmart him
and defeat him in battle. Each time they fought Manno gave chase to the priest and found
himself on unfavorable ground where the priest used his racial vulnerability to sickness to
wear him down and defeat him. Manno felt very stupid for each defeat, for, isn't that the
definition of stupidity? To do repeat the same actions and expect different results? Manno
vowed to not be so foolish when battling this priest. He would have to be more cunning
than the priest if he was going to defeat him.

Finally, he got his chance. The elder Villagers took the Imperial Codex from the Imperial
Palace and gave it to the Destructor to guard in the Skull Throne. The priest came to
attack and Manno defended the Village this time staying near the Village and not running
blindly after the priest in a fit of bloodlust. The priest taunted Manno, calling him a
coward for not leaving his guard post. How ironic Manno thought that this priest would
insult him for not doing the very thing that had led to his defeat three times before!
Ignoring the insults Manno vigilantly stood his guard and eventually saw his opportunity.
When the priest attacked and Manno moved to the breaching walls and pinned the priest
between himself and the Giant who guards the Village. The tactical move was a success,
the priest was defeated and Manno swelled with pride as he cut his trophy from the
priest's corpse.

Chapter 5

After leaving the cloud giant village, Manno had decided to become a BattleRager. It was
only fitting to do so considering his quest to satisfy his lust for mage blood. After
showing Tahren the skull of a dark knight, how fitting this to be his first skull, and
swearing an oath to Tahren to become known as an Applicant to the Village of
BattleRagers the great Lord Thror held a trial for the Applicants. Manno participated, but,
unfortunately he did not win. The loss was tough for him to swallow due to his
competitive nature, however, he did so as gracefully as he could. He merely used the loss
as motivation for the next time any such competition would happen again.

Chapter 4

'Manno! No-' Sana started to yell, but, Manno had already moved. Unsheathing the
sword of the fire giant guard Manno delivered a powerful blow to the emissary's chest
knocking him off his feet. The blow was a fatal one. The emissary lay on the ground
staring in disbelief at the sword protruding from his chest. Anger then washed over his
face as he summoned the last bit of energy he had into a spell. Sensing the mystical
energies form Manno could do nothing but grit his teeth and steel himself for the blow.
'Haha' the emissary laughed with a bloody cough, 'you will never have her!' and with
that the emissary decimated Sana with a magical iceball before dying himself.

In the aftermath of the day Manno murdered the emissary who in turn murdered his Sana,
Manno left his home with the cloud giants. Manno's father had been very unhappy with
his actions and feared it might bring war between the fire giants and cloud giants. The
cloud giants were not unfamiliar with war and ultimately they supported Manno,
however, Manno had no desire to stay in his village. He had cursed magic and cursed the
fire giants of Kiadana-Rah. He would go out in the world. No longer would he lust after
women. He would now lust for might over magic. Every time he took the head of a mage
or a fire giant from Kiadana-Rah, it would be for his fallen Sana.

Chapter 3

Sana's father had caught them kissing in secret and was enraged. It was only on the
begging and pleading of Sana's part that kept the emissary from killing Manno on the
spot. The emissary cruelly told Manno that no cloud giant could ever be with a fire giant
because he lacked the magical talent to be excel in the dark paladin guild. In fact, he was
rather insulting about it doing his best to belittle Manno for his lack of magical ability.
When the scene of humiliation had finished the emissary ordered Manno escorted from
the camp and forbade him to never return and see his daughter.

Manno's world had crashed in on him. He wandered the mountains, desperate to find a
way to have the woman he lusted after, desperate for a plan of action. Oh, how he hated
that emissary. How he hated the fact that he had used magic as a reason to forbid him
from being with Sana. -Magic, bah- Manno thought. He trusted in his mace more than he
trusted in any magic. As he wandered lost in his heartache and thoughts a plan began to
form in his head. Yes, he would have Sana again, no matter the cost.

Manno spent all night preparing. Using the techniques he had learned to make war paint
he had made black paste which he smeared all over his body darkening his skin to match
the fire giants. He then reddened his hair with the dye from a crimson flower found in the
mountains. Now all he needed was a uniform.

Disguised as a fire giant guard, Manno snuck into the fire giant camp in the morning. He
walked uncontested through the camp and entered the emissary's tent. Inside the large
tent the emissary was pouring over daily reports with Sana by his side.
'Yes, guard? You have report?' the emissary asked of Manno as he stepped into the tent.
Manno glanced over at Sana and saw that recognition had hit her face.

Chapter 2

The three brothers walked through the fire giant camp, being escorted by several fire
giant guards, dressed in uniform. It seemed the emissary was an important member of the
Nacktin-Rah family from Mount Kiadana-Rah, and a powerful dark paladin.

Inside of the emissary's tent Manno stood in the background as he listened to the
emissary explain how a valuable jewel had been taken from Lady Kiadana-Rah and they
had tracked the thief to these mountains. The fire giants did not care about the feud
between the cloud giants and Udgaardians and were soliciting help from both sides to try
to find the thief in these mountains. They would pay handsomely for use of cloud giant
scouts and word of any unusual people in the areas. As the discussions went on Manno
caught the eye of a beautiful fire giant female standing to the side of the emissary. She
was much younger than the emissary so it was unlikely she was his woman. Manno
didn't care if she was or not. He was awestruck by her exotic beauty and couldn't keep
his eyes off of her. He knew at that moment that he had to have this woman.

Later that night, Manno could hardly sleep in his tent. All he could think about was Sana.
That was her name, he had been introduced to her when the meeting was over and had a
chance to make some small talk with her. It seemed that the emissary was her father.
Sana was a strong woman and he could tell that there was a dark side to her, a fire giant
no doubt. But, something about her was too alluring. It was if she were forbidden, which
in all honesty she was, and it made him want her even more. Manno didn't care though.
In fact, he volunteered himself as a scout to the giants so that he might get a chance to be
around her more.

Over the next two months Manno got what he wanted. Sana was delightfully devilish and
Manno couldn't get enough. She had taken to him as well and a strong relationship had
formed. They were spending more and more time with each other on searching trips
through the mountains. Manno began to hope that they never found the man they looked
for so that this time would last forever. Sana had explained to Manno that what they were
doing was forbidden and they had to keep it secret. Manno was trying to convince Sana
to run off with him into the world, but, she was committed to her duties and training as a
dark wizard and knew that one day she would have to return to Kiadana. Sadly, Mannos
attempts to come up with a plan to make this relationship last were cut short.

Chapter 1

'Chest your cards' Manno said with a disapproving scowl. The pile of money on the table
was growing very large and Manno intended to win it using his skill, not because his
drunken friend was flashing his hand all over the place. The game was a card game called
Executioner's Axe. It was a betting game where on the rare occasion it was possible to
have a tie, in which case the money stayed in the pot and everyone had to re-ante.
Amazingly, there had been a tie two hands in a row causing the pot to grow into
something to covet, and covet it Manno did. He was determined to win this hand and he
knew how. He had begun to notice playing patterns from his opponents by which he had
been able to develop an ingenious plan.

It was Manno's turn now and he had been feigning concentration and indecision when he
knew all along the card he was going to play. Finally, he threw one of the weaker cards in
his hand, setting the trap he had planned. Manno inwardly smiled as one by one each of
his opponents played right into his strategy. Tossing down his last card Manno grinned in
satisfaction as he scrapped the pot towards himself, trying to ignore the audible groans
from the other cloud giants at the table.

Manno had only had a minute or two to enjoy his victory when two cloud giants walked
into the feast hall where they had been playing cards and drinking ale.
'Manno, chief wants to see you, now' said one of the approaching, well-armed giants.
Manno nodded in agreement and gathered his things and headed to his fathers tent.

Manno was the youngest son of the Chief of the cloud giant village north and west of
Udgaard. He was a strong warrior, as any cloud giant had to be living in that village with
all the Udgaardian patrollers in the mountains below the village. Shaking the snow off his
boots he stepped into his father's tent.
'Manno, good you are here. There is encampment of fire giants on trails outside of
Udgaard. They send emissary. Wish to meet with us. Them say wishes speak to us. Is
willing to make trade for information. You go with your brothers. See giants, see what
want.' The chief of the giants explained with his usual brief manner.
