Chapter 12

You notice a crinkled piece of ebony vellum, upon it in a strange dwarven
dialect a fair amount of text has been scribed. The writings seem to emit a
very faint glow.

**Day of Deception, 23rd of the Month of the Battle**

I am alone now, it has been a ten day or so since my journey from the deep
into this bright abomination above. The land is so very different here upon
the surface, though I fear no horrors the surface could bring before me I am
awestruck at my new surroundings.

My wounds heal well, I know that my father has passed...the failed raid upon
the Darin'Tith clan has in most probable reality sealed the fate of my clan.
I will not return...I cannot return and I will accept my time here not as
banishment but as a new opportunity to make my own way.

I have only the teachings of my uncle to guide me, though my father has
taught me the ways of combat well it is the teachings of my uncle that have
kept me alive. My senses stir...I do not know what has guided me here, it is
as if some strange force drives me forward. I have not slept in some time, I
am in a conscious dream it would seem...visions so real and raw flash before
me from time to time they are dark and I embrace them.

What power I have found through the divination's with my uncle has began to
fade. I feel disconnected though my lust for understanding only grows
stronger. What is this strange force that I feel drawn toward?

I will press on, unfettering is my resolve. I will find the truth of it all
or it will be my end...The Velen'Tarr name will not be lost in the web of
time if I must I will carve into this land a giant scar so that all may know
and remember the strength of my people. If I am to find a new master to
guide me I shall go north, there are great mountains rising up from the earth
there...perhaps within I may discern more answers.

Chapter 11

**Day of the Moon, 35th of the Month of the Battle.**

I have wandered thus far for days in search of ware and shelter from the
elements. I have found strange comfort in the length of what appears to be a
day here upon the surface. Early in the day a flaming orb rises into the sky,
it is like nothing I have seen before serving to sting sorely the sensitive
spectrum my eyes have known from the beginning of my life. However that
blasted fiery orb does retreat after a time and another orb takes its place,
the sky grows dark and my eyes shift to a more comfortable and tolerable
level of light.


This "night" as it is called I do greatly enjoy...the very feral will of my
nature is free to explore whatever I may desire...and within this cover of
black I notice it presents tactical opportunities otherwise not available
during the reign of the fiery orb.

Just in the latter of this eve I came across a small band of men who had made
camp near a settlement called Voralian.They where easy targets...quite a
weak sort the rabble of this surface is or what I have encountered thus far.
The screams they make upon death...so exquisite...so delightful.

I have but one task at present...the drive of my spirit commands me to press
further on...it is as if I am empty. Void of something though I cannot quite
place. As I draw closer to the mountains I have seen traces of many creatures
perhaps orcs inhabit these hills. I know there stench well as they are quite
readily available throughout the Underdark and near DelarTol. I have seen
the remains of there camps...quite a unintelligible lot, leaving filth all
about a child could track on the worst of days.

One thing however is of particular interest to me. One such site I came upon
I found a small statue of sorts...perhaps to the Lord they worship. It looks
to be a great orcish God, a warlord of sorts. As I placed the idle in my hand
I felt the void within me shrink considerably...for reasons I cannot explain
the fervor in my soul burns a bit darker than before.

I will seek out a band of these "surface orc" and confront them and ask them
of there God. Better for them if they cooperate...my battle lust grows by the
day...

Chapter 10

**Day of the Moon, 14th of the Month of the Dark Shades.**

It is the month of Dark Shades and Indeed my path is shaded by a darkness so
terrible it is most enjoyable. I have wandered the mountains now for a moon
and I have came across many band of orc. Yes they are indeed like there
Underdark cousin, fearful and untrustworthy they have proved very
uncooperative thus far.

However I have obtained an important piece to the puzzle that vexes me so...I
managed to interrogate one of the little bastards of which I had just
destroyed his friends. Though they are far more brash in numbers they are
easily cut down like the harvest of mushroom in the deep Underdark.

Between his helpless scream's he managed to banter a word that stopped my axe
from pressing further in his fragile chest. The word "GROBBAK!" he cried
mercilessly as if some form would rescue him from his imminent doom. The orc
rabble feared him with a depth unimaginable, the sheer utterance of his name
brought a chill up both my spine and the spines of those orc cut down in my
path.

Who was this terrible and powerful being...from where did he draw his power?
I knew then whom it was that I needed to seek out, from whom which the
strength of my soul and spirit could possibly draw from. Something as dark
and feral as Grobbak had to be worshiped...must be worshiped...I would seek
him out...nothing would stand in my way.

It had occurred to me as I set out again, only guided by the strange void in
my soul, that I had slain many of the Lords own kind. Would this anger the
mighty Diety? I think not...I believe from the very essence of my spirit that
the those worthy to worship the "Grimace" as he is called must be worthy
first to stand at his feet...to submit to his will and be capable of carrying
out his wishes..his commands. It is hard to think that such noble tasks could
be completed by the banter I have encountered thus far. Though I do not doubt
there are mighty orc warriors who exist to destroy for the "Reaper" I believe
that there may be few who could spread his word as I may be able to.

I now am joined with a dangerous path...should the Lord not accept me as a
humble servant...slave for that matter, it could mean my end. Though death
would be the sweeter path taken than to live with this undirected void that
engulfs my soul.

Yes I shall seek this Grobbak and devote myself to his will...Any and all who
stand in the way of this shall be destroyed. I will prove my worth and I
shall conquer and plunder as I please in this pitiful surface world should he
bless me with his divine and dark sanctity.

Chapter 9

**Day of the Bull, 1st of the Month of the Frost Giant.**

I stood before the Reaping Grimace in humble and willing submission, it is of
course his will that enlivens my soul with its power. The void within my
spirit has began to fill now and at this time my path has become slightly
more clear. What will the dark one have in store for me...I must only serve
his will and perhaps gain great favor.

I roam these lands preaching the word of the Reaper to whom I may, most in my
path do not seem worthy of such an honor. Rather than to seek conversion of
the simple minded ilk that inhabit these lands it has become most apparent
that I must purge those who will not submit to becoming a slave of my Lord. I
would say that unlike the preachers of far I have witnessed, I would have
others "submit" not stand in the market in some township as a fool yelling to
deaf ears. The time has come for the Reaping Grimace's will to be carried out
and I shall not stand idly by with just words to complete the task.

I use whom I may to further my own delightful pleasures, it has become quite
interesting to use those of the Village of Battle to advance myself further
in my training. A dangerous game I play now in the midst of all that unfolds.
I have no doubt that if I wish to further my power within these lands I shall
make many an enemy.

Thus far I have decided that in the interest of myself and to further
subjugate disciples for the Reaper I will seek the Scions of the Eternal
Night, within there flock I will grow my strength...hone my killing skill and
aid in bringing about the eternal damnation that awaits us all.This in
itself...is TRUTH, and the lust I have for the ultimate gain is growing
undeniably larger...

Chapter 8

**Day of the Bull, 29th of the Month of the Old Forces.**

The time has almost arrived, an audience must be sought with the Reaping
Grimace in accordance with his wishes. I have dedicated myself to his word, I
have prepared the spoils of war as well in hopes he will deem me worthy of
furthering his word.

Upon our first meeting the Lord has demonstrated his power, his will to
protect his slaves. It has protected me thus far throughout my journeys there
is nothing else in this life for me I would not dare ever question his
reasoning. I have decided that in honor of the Lust I have seen thus far
fulfilled I will commission a great statue in his likeness. All who pass
shall see the likeness of the Grimace and come to fear the simple utterance
of his name. I am undecided yet how the construction process will be or of
its location but through my undaunted pillaging I have appropriated the
necessary funds for the slave labor needed to undertake such a task.

I have found much use for the orc warriors of the land and I believe they
have came to understand that as a prophet of his Lordship I represent his
spiritual wrath. It is both beneficial and complacent for me tactically to
command them as I see fit to further the will of the Reaping Grimace. Perhaps
as I grow older the two roads that I walk both for the Eternal Night and
spreading the word of the master may gain greatly from this principle.

As always I remain ever vigilant to the coming darkness...Praise be he who is
the REAPING GRIMACE!

Chapter 7

**Day of Thunder, 17th of the Month of Winter.**

What is blood? Is it not that which flows within one, that makes his life
force. Yes I have come to a new understanding of such things and with the
help of the Chancellor, have received new found power of my own. The path
continues and I now reside in the flock of the Eternal.
I had made up my mind when I first came here to seek these "Bringers" and in
doing so pledged my life to there cause at an early age. I was tested of
course but much differently than that of the Master. I differentiate between
the two...it is necessary to do so.

The two paths...of which the higher of two I am a prophet of the Grimace, a
harbinger of his word. You could say an extension of his will that is first
and foremost my conscious essence. The other path of course I am a Scion of
the Eternal Night, as I have accepted that in totality this fake illusion of
a realm is built upon the weak. It is not infinite in its existence...there
will be an end. And I choose to be on the side of those who will bring its
destruction for mutual benefit. To sculpt what I will of this world....to
sculpt what my Lord will see fit.

Much to my liking the current few I have met within the fold are of weighted
significance to my goals. Each presents a knowledge I have yet to witness
before in the dwellers of this surface world. There is of course the
Chancellor...a dark and motivated arcane whose own blood I have tasted, YES
there is much power in this one. I also cannot forget the Advisor, that
undead apparition of malice simply has the going power unimagined in my
limited scope.

The Reaping Grimace has come before me again and I have managed to please him
perhaps in a small sense, he has granted me the Lustful power I desire to
reach the end of my training. I go about collecting spoils for the Lord, and
spreading his word as he commands. These few years I have spent above have
granted me much insight into the vast portal of knowledge that is
"divination". We shall see very soon as I approach the pinnacle of my guild
what stuff I am truly made of, new foes arise everyday...some of them have
found there own power...

I seek now to find my own.

Chapter 6

**Day of the Sun, 20th of the Month of the Winter Wolf.**

It had occurred to me today that I have far surpassed the expectations my
father had designed for me. Though I had a disagreement with him before the
battle that inevitably brought me to the surface there is a small measure
within me that wishes he could see what I will and have accomplished. To
honor the Velen'Tarr for what they where.

My life has a young warrior priest was trying, my father wished my studies to
be more combat involved than they where...but much to my uncles satisfaction
I was able to excel in the priestly arts...(divination and holy fervency
within combat). I have no regrets, my outlook has always been swayed toward
my personal gain, and through the Reaper I am able to focus the power I have
attained.

I feel that my ability to kill has been more effective overall than my
ability to attain slaves for the Lord, some men are not easily so broken. As
I reflect upon this I see some varying paths that offer a solution. I need to
make it known to all that I am a prophet of the Reaping Grimace, announce to
the denizens of Thera that the will of my Lord will be done and that he will
protect those that submit themselves as slaves under his rule. And I stand to
teach those whom I might come across that Lust rules my heart.

There is one I have came into contact with in my travels, a Herald of the
Eternal Star he seems to be talented with the pen.. I need one with a silver
tongue to help spread the doctrine about. Though upon my recent dealings with
this one it seems as if he has fallen under some sort of manic depression. He
was a misguided fool before yes...but now there is something different. I
sense loss in him as he drowns himself in his coma of woeful regret. I care
not of his transgressions at all but I need to motivate this one back to his
usefulness...

Humans are trifle lot of emotional fools I must say, who could not be content
with all there is to conquer? Of all the worth there is to be had in the
land? One's Lust may not ever be quenched but it is the possibility of
"somehow" quenching the thirst that should sustain men.

Chapter 5

**You see the robed form of Derogker pacing back and forth across a battle
formation of various denizens and dark creatures**

"You know why you here!"

"We stand in the affirmation of the Eternal Damnation! To whatever gain each
of you has within his own dark heart..."

"For Lust!.....For Power!.....that is the Truth of things, know that there is
no option for failure!"

**Derogkar raises his axe towards the heavens and shouts a prayer of battle**


"To VICTORY, leave no quarter for the weak, DESTROY ALL! In the name of the
Reaping Grimace....ATTACK!!!

**Like a flowing wave of brackish water a massive army rushes across the
battlefield, the screams and war cries of goblin and giant alike can be
heard**


***Day of Deception, 30th of the Month of the Long Shadows***

I have risen to the pinnacle of my priestly training and have begun to attain
a place of regard within the chosen flock. War has come now in my days of
adventure and plunder. I find my lustful desires rising from within. The
Reaper has granted me much power to spread his message throughout the
unmotivated and unknowing many that dwell throughout the entirety that is
Thera.

I have found that without a doubt some men consumed as I am by there own will
and determination cannot be swayed or broken, they will not submit nor will
they become a slave of my Lord. I find this in itself the ultimate Truth.
Those who will not be swayed are unworthy to feast beneath the table of the
mighty Grimace and therefore should be purged like the dead crops of an
ending harvest.

I look to my Lust now to guide me to those who would accept my Lords
teachings, to become a slave of the Grimace. It has taken me many years to
realize the world is vast, there are many who would deny such priestly
lessons and at the same time there are many who would rise forth to hear my
words and accept in there Spirit the Truth of there own Lust and become a
slave.

The chasm itself is filled with unrepentant sinners, lost souls...some guided
toward a notion of power to be had and some only to fulfill there inner most
dark desires. This is truly my place among men and through the war over the
coming Eternal Night, I fill my Lords coffers with the spoils of war.

I seek only to become a hand of wrath for the Reaper...a living embodiment of
his will, he has assigned me the task of bringing him more slaves though I
have tried to adhere to this task with all of my being I feel that I have
explored the depths of my own soul to find new direction. New teachings to
bring those under the Masters will. Only time will grant me the fulfillment
of this coming prophecy.

Chapter 4

***Day of Freedom, 32nd of the Month of the Great Evil.***

**You see the priest Derogker before you robed in black and resting upon a
dark altar. His brow is heavy with contemplation as he ponders the deluding
politics and the current situations before him**

**An axe rests beside him, it is thick and coated in blood, perhaps from the
sacrifice that lies on the altar.**

I am quite pleased with how the Lords word has spread throughout the denizens
of the land. It seems my past presumptions where correct in that it is better
to search for those who would adhere to his call and be worthy of it.

Much has transpired in the coming years, both allies and foes alike fall and
are swept away like the rampant dust blowing across the desert that surrounds
the chasm. My beard has begun its shade of gray as I have now reached the one
hundred and fifty third cycle of the world as I have known it.

In my last meeting with Grimace he expressed his wishes for me to accomplish
two things. The fall of the elf maran captain Dupmasine and my rise to power
as Chancellor would greatly please him.

I do not fear either of these tasks...I have come close to claiming the life
of the elf before, yet he has a few trophies of my own skin to bare...not
perhaps by his skill alone but by the power of the holy blade Defiance he
carries...it does well to singe the depths of my dark skin.

The other matter of course though I do not fear it either does bring much
thought and contemplation before me. Could I fulfill this roll like so many
before me? Do I have the will and power to bear the burden of the title?
Yes...I would say if asked these particular questions. I would not think to
answer them any other way by point of fact. But as with all things there is
much more to this than just my wishes...my Lust. There is Politics...

Chapter 3

I am a prophet of my Lord...a willful hand of his wrath all I have known is
his will and what I might do to carry it further while I can and before the
coming Eternal Night. I am no scholar of men, no embodiment of political
Intrepidity. I however do know the Spirit of men, the Lust that fills there
souls and I know how myself and the chasm would benefit from this wisdom with
my direction.

Just last month the Advisor Frismund had asked me directly of this particular
matter, of whom I thought fitting for the now "open" position. My reply was
indecisive of course and rightfully so because I do know from the inner
workings of council that to bare your opinions forth on certain matters, ones
like these, is like revealing your hand in a game of cards.

I then returned the question to the Advisor and asked of him his thoughts.
Much to my surprise he said another's name... That of the conjurer mage
Tinsalaop Sss'la. I would have assumed he would have been for himself. My
thoughts on the matter in reality are quite different.

Roamed these lands much I have in my time and I do not care for much slumber
and I have been graced with the ability to spend much time awake. I have
noticed as of late the conjurer slumbers often and I had not seen him in a
few moons before this particular meeting. Perhaps my opinion is out of
context. I do know that he is a skillful killer with his minions and he is
mostly intelligent in his endeavors. And so he makes for interesting
competition for the honor of Chancellor.

Had I my way...I would have the wise mummy at my side as Advisor and I would
bring forth a new echelon of darkness before the might of the fold. I would
much like to speak with the Queen Mergulla as she holds sway over the chasm
and its mortal well being. I know how to please one of her taste she is not
much different from my own great Master as I have studied. Though in my many
years thus far I have yet to see or witness her presence, yet to even hear a
whisper or utterance of her name...no not once. This burdens me greatly, how
may I carry out my diplomacy and lustful plans if the mistress of the Night
remains hidden? Surely she is a powerful and deadly Goddess and it would be

still...

Now that I am scribing this reflection I do remember such an utterance...of
the Queen. I met another once, one of the flock who has thus became dust and
upon meeting this one (as I had never seen him before) I asked of him to
better understand who he was and why I had not seen him before. He handed to
me a very powerful amulet and stated only this: "It was a gift for my Queen
but you can have it as she ignores me.."

This one was named Drustrui and I know not his accomplishments nor his graces
with the Queen nor do I have much care for them...but at the same time it
makes me ponder on just how worthwhile this particular endeavor could be at
all for both the chasm and myself. I cannot plan and act accordingly if I do
not know whom I may plan for.

I have my own Master to serve, the Grimace is first and foremost my concern
and I do not intend to search out an elusive Queen no matter how much power
she may contain. I will instead watch and observe what transpires before me.
I will divine the stars for answers as a scion Unholy should, I have the
patience to wait and see what unfolds. It would please me greatly however to
meet this...elusive Queen of sloth.

Chapter 1

***Day of Thunder, 10th of the Month of the Spring.***

**You see the form of Derogker, the now aging priest lies upon a comfortable
bed with many female acolytes...slave girls captured to please him, the room
is dark and everyone is asleep**

**Derogker tosses in what would otherwise appear to be a VERY comfortable
sleep**

**Amidst a swirling dark fog you envision the minds eye of Derogker, his own
dreams materialized as if watching a play**

**Time stands still as you see an unholy and great form of an orc Lord
pillaging an entire city, women...children all being cut down in his path, at
his feet stands Derogker in full battle-gear commanding minions left and
right in the assault**

Dreams...they come in many forms, do others dream as I do? In my youth I had
such visions. Now more than ever they seem to haunt my slumber.

Of the recent moon one such dream in particular stands out amidst the torrent
of dark visions that perplex my existence. In it I see the form of my Lord as
a great constellation...might and powerful it falls from the sky, descending
upon the Theran landscape conquering all in its path. I follow my Lord into
battle and the assault goes well.

When I can taste the victory of battle, when my blood seems to boil from my
Lust being temporarily sated there stands a lone warrior among the chaos.
There is a pure and holy light that shines about him...it angers me so.

One warrior rising out of the dismembered bodies and rivers of blood, a
chilling battle cry sounds throughout and I see the many ilk of the Fortress
pouring out of the last standing structure...

The dream ends as if this is some undecided future battle, I know not much
more as it each part of this play like dream has come in waves. Perhaps it
has to do with the constant struggle between the Chasm and those who would
seek to interfere. I cannot be certain.

I know that I must seek my Lord and ask of him something I have never asked
before, I have brought many to bear in his name, servants for his table. It
is his wish that someday I might lead the fold as Chancellor, if it be the
will of the Gods I will accept this mantle of honor and carry this task with
the utmost scrutiny. But I know in my Spirit that there will be those who
will stand in my way. Yes...I must ask the Lord for dark powers...something
to crush those who stand before me.

I need to know in the very depths of my dark soul that when that far away
battle comes I will be victorious. The Lust filling me has carried me so far
and yet I would sacrifice all that I have become for more. It can never be
fully sated...perhaps even in death I will still Lust...yes even in death, I
will conquer the very Hell I am sent to should I wake to find myself in the
land of the damned...
