I specifically went out and got graph paper for maps just the other day. I'd have some directions ingrained into my brain if not for very slight dyslexia. It interferes with finding my way around mapless, and with making maps, but somehow once I get a map drawn, I can navigate by it flawlessly. I'll always be one of those people moving step by step without software to help.
