I think you did a very poor job of defending yourself.
Did you at any stage tell Blitz that Khasatholas undid Lothlored's demotion of you, and that Lothlored demoted you again as soon as Khasatholas left? That probably would have made the difference.
Of course, I haven't played an imperial so maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me as if you left it as your word against a superior's when the Emperor came, and failed to play your card about an immortal, highest of the high, supporting you.
