#25682, "All good things come to an end"
|
What can I say? I had a blast. This is game is just so fun. Apart from a three week break around Christmas I basically played Drokk every chance I got. The main reason that I deleted was that at best of times my role-play was shallow. I just couldn't find something I was comfortable with. After 150 hours I realized there was a number of help files on fire giants. They did not exactly match with how I had played so far, but made perfect sense. I tried to adapt my style to be more in line with the help file, but in the end I was just a human who didn't take things seriously in a funny suit. I'd rather leave now and think of something more interesting and consistent than be booted from the cabal.
I had set a number of goals with Drokk, most of which I met. I wanted to hero, I wanted to learn a number of areas, especially with regards to regearing but also to find boosters (stone skin and all that) and I wanted to be in a cabal. I choose Scion because I thought it would be the cabal where I could learn the most. With my previous character Rhazgal I wanted to be in Battle. I see Battle as the perfect newbie cabal. You have a very clear goal, specific rules but some freedom nonetheless and no need of gold or knowledge of magical boosters. But due to my playing hours (I think this is the main reason, though of course my suckiness may have played a larger part than I like to think ) Rhazgal was not that fun. After having played Rhazgal for about 100 hours and getting nowhere nearer to get into Battle, I deleted and made Drokk instead.
Drokk was about learning to stand on my own two feet. Apart from getting levels I was alone most of the time. I learned a _lot_. Before level 40 I would just get tooled by everybody and his old mother. I think I had one PK before 40. Getting to level 40 was reasonably easy. Getting to hero from level 43 was a nightmare. I just got killed repeatedly by Fortress and Empire. I mob died 5 times at level 44 (or perhaps it was 46, I don't remember) for instance getting paralyzed while fighting some mobile, ending up in a death trap after unghosting and so on. When I finally made it to hero, things started to improve immensely. I now had a basic grasp on how to utilize my strengths and weaknesses. I actually killed a few people too. I think I ended up with a PK ratio of 30-40 %, which is fine with me.
I think the scion cabal is very cool. Unfortunately, it takes a little more finesse than I was able to employ at this time. The cabal is made for mages and priests, but it was great having a nightwalker. It was nice in PK because it might slow down my opponents and it was extremely useful while regearing. I'd like to try the scion cabal again sometime but as a mage or priest or at least someone better suited to its style than a dumb fire giant.
I'll post farewells separately
Thanks for a great game.
