#24862, "My constructive criticism post"

Please take this as completely constructive criticism. I had a fun time as Kazadan, IMMS do a real good job, but I have to say I'm curious as to why certain avenues haven't been pursued to the extent that they can be. Either way, this is still easily the best mud I've ever played, but I'd like to give ya'll my viewpoint.
Like I said in my goodbyes, I wanted to mention stuff which I think could be looked at. Half the reason I deleted was because I got a few more things on my plate real-life wise, the other half is because sometimes RPing an evil character seems like 'Oooohhh lets put on some paper masks and pretend to be eeeeevil!!' In general, to be a true evil, you basically have to be a masochist, because you're basically burning your bridges by pissing everybody else off, so you lose their help and spells/communes, or maybe you backstab them and kill them for a few real nice pieces of gear (that you can lose in a heartbeat if someone gangs you, then you're naked and with one extra person who hates you). And though I did do it once or twice as Kazadan just to keep my cruel-o-meter at least at an average point, it tends to get me nowhere.
That said, consider the idea of Scion. Awesome idea, I love the now RP-wise correct and effective spells they get, and they're about searching for forbidden magics and other stuff too which I suppose I won't mention here. But in a way it's like why stop there? I mean, I notice the immortals are discouraging early deletion, which is good, but part of the reason people delete is because they're doing the same ole thing. You're evil? Kill Maran, take Orb, defend from Maran, regain Sceptre, then do all over again. You're a Maran? Kill Empire, kill Scion, take Codex, take Sceptre, wait for evils to get bored and delete (give us a little time, we will), then you're stuck waiting in the Inn for the next OOC month until the next set of evils rank up, if they ever do.
What I'm getting at is that 1) boredom sets in, and 2) you're somewhat limited in reaching whatever your character's goal is. An example of something that you all just implemented that somewhat addresses this is the new cabal skill vandalism. Outlanders are about bringing down civilization, and being able to close down shops so people feel the effects of a 'brought down' civilization is pretty cool. Perhaps the longer the scales of justice are in the hands of other cabal's the less guards repop each day? That would also be a neat thing which reflects the lack of power of the Tribunal.
In the same fashion, Scion should be more into ritualistic magic that creates greater effects on the land, here's an example of some sort of scenario: 1) You're a Scion, searching through an area explore such as, I dunno the fifth level of hell? A devil offers you a proposition saying that he can damper the abilities of the light if you are able to give him the following: 1) the siphoned soul of the most virtuous holy warrior, (ie. A Maran Paladin) 2) and a flesh sacrifice of a trusted ally. So, you go about and eventually kill a Paladin, and using some sort of flask you siphon part of the Paladins soul, meanwhile you convince some Mercenary of Talia =) to travel to hell with you, where you tell your friend to wait in a pentogram chamber that you say must contain some powerful artifacts, so he searches for them. Meanwhile you go to a podium and recite a mantra that causes your friend to be sacrificed =). The effect of this, being, the devil uses the siphoned soul and the torment of your now-backstabbed friend to cause all Paladins to require double the mana cost to use any of their communes. The backstabbed friend may probably have his charisma lowered by several points, and of course takes a death. But, all in all, he did decide to trust a Scion, right? You may say harsh, but damn, that IS evil. And that does give people a GOOD reason to hate scions. You never know if they're going to sell you out for some greater cause.
Obviously, there should be signs to show that this was coming, probably in a dream for some PC Paladin or other Maran. This would do a few cool things: You're able to do more evil things than kill the people who want to kill you and take the opposing cabal item; You're able to actually make people want to stop you; You're getting something great outta your backstabbing; and you're giving Maran a better purpose.
Likewise, empire should be able to do things to expand their power, that could replace guards with centurions (not of the same power and abilities of course, but at least auto-assists imperials). Battle can venture into magical towers to try to cut off or strain sources of magic. Empire could do something that could turn an entire forest to ash indefinitely, and so on and so forth.
I mean, as Kaavraus, the Nexus Invoker of some time ago, when we did the whole hell trip where Scarabaeus sent two teams in and whichever team survived killed the other gets to go in. That was awesome. More opportunities to realllly be evil should be available.
Here's my forty-six cents, and as I said, its just a suggestion, and these sort of things can be fairly easy to implement and would cut the boredom/deletion rate, Kazadan
