Chapter 3

Today has been a day of quiet reflection for me. As I sit here in my cabin,
surrounded by the soft glow of candlelight, I find myself thinking of my old
friend Encarva, and the terrible fate that befell her.

It seems like only yesterday that we were traveling together through the dark
forests of Thera, seeking out new adventures and new mysteries to solve.
Encarva was always more impulsive than I was, more willing to take risks and
push the limits of what was possible.

And it was that hunger for adventure that led us down the path of darkness.
Encarva had always been fascinated by the power of the vampyres, and she had
convinced me to help her perform a ritual that would grant her that power.

I had my doubts, of course. I knew that dabbling in dark magic was dangerous,
and I worried that we were playing with forces that we couldn't control. But
Encarva was insistent, and I was young and foolish enough to go along with
her.

And so, on a moonless night in the heart of the dark rotten church, we began
the ritual. I could feel the energy of the magic coursing through the air,
filling me with a sense of anticipation and dread.

But as the ritual reached its climax, something went horribly wrong. The
energy was too much for Encarva, and she failed to control it. In that moment,
she was consumed by the magic, twisted and transformed into something dark and
terrible.

I tried to help her, but it was too late. Encarva had failed the ritual, and
the price of her failure was eternal damnation. She was cursed to walk the
earth as a twisted and corrupted being, forever shunned by the living and the
dead alike.

And so, I was forced to leave my friend behind and continue on my journey
alone. The memory of that night still haunts me, and I know that I will never
forget the price of dabbling in dark magic.

As I sit here tonight, I wonder what might have been if Encarva had listened
to reason. Would she still be alive today, or would she have met some other
terrible fate?

All I know is that, for me, the memory of Encarva will always be a reminder of
the dangers of seeking power and knowledge at any cost. And I will always be
grateful for the lessons that she taught me, even as I mourn her loss.
