Chapter 1

Somewhere between fire and lightning is where my dreams start. An unbound and
immeasurable being, sound emanating from which can only be described as
something akin to the crackling of a smoldering embers to reverberating roll
of thunder, the whooshing of bellows to the sharp crack of a bull whip.
Perhaps the only true description of Kerubiel was through smell, as the only
constant was the smell of ozone.

As this being morphed dimming and bursting back forth in an intensity of
light, a heavenly choir responded as if to a maestros baton. This choir
was comprised of unimaginable beings, with a multitude of faces, some of an
ox, others a lion, here a man, and there an eagle, each roaring, bellowing,
screeching, and singing praises to the most holy.

Suddenly, a dark rift, a kind most feared in Elysium appeared. Angelkind had
grown accustomed to such vortexes appearing, and with an undeniable suction,
rip from the lands select angels. None knew from whence the rift appeared,
nor did any know where the angels disappeared to. But none could deny it when
it came. This was unnatural channel was vastly different than the gentle
beckoning of a magi, which most angels returned from.

My fantastic dream swiftly turned into a nightmare. One moment glory and
harmony was sung with ease and delight, the next, I felt myself being drawn
into the void. As my form writhed with all its fury, the Choir of Cherubim
turned to cacophony. The plains of Elysium, where no shadow exists, was
rapidly replaced with an inky blackness, which my own inner light could
scarcely penetrate.
