Chapter 6

Before Durnot had gotten his first magi kill, he had spoke with Zah, the
Drillmaster of Battle. While Zah is a tough, scary guy he helped Durnot early
on with a dagger and two pieces of armor. Zah helping Durnot was an eye
opener for Durnot as few had helped him in life. This opened Durnots eye
to the possibility that if he helped his brothers and sisters in the village then
the victories could be greater and the revenge could be sweeter.

After Durnot got his first magi kill, he sent a note to the village through a
messenger of his desires to earn a hut. About six months after the note was
sent, Galgeron the Commander of Battle asked him to come to the village
to speak. When Durnot arrived, he was shocked to find an elf before him.
Durnot was very nervous as he saw his plans of a hut going up in smoke.
There was no way that bloody elf would give a drow a hut. Durnot and the
Commander spoke at length. Durnot told his story and the Commander listened
carefully. Strange an elf listening and asking questions of a drow. Several
time there were interrupted by enemies of the village attacked Galgeron. Durnot
was impressed with the way this elf fought. Durnot had not witness an
elf warrior fight like this. All of Durnots experience was with elf magi. Durnot
realized he could make use of at least this elf. After the commander
ran off the villages enemies, Galgeron ask the key question. Was Durnot fighting
for the betterment of everyone or for revenge. Durnot though long and hard and
decided to answer honestly. He told the commander he seeks revenge and he
would like to be a defender to aid all the village enact more revenge on magi.
If the village succeeded, then Durnot would prosper and achieve a greater victory.
More magi would die and Durnot would have more of what he lusted for. More gold.
More women. More death. More filling of the hole in his soul that can only be
filled with more victory. Galgeron thought for a moment and then induction Durnot
into the village. Durnot had his hut. Durnot enjoyed this life victory. A great day
for Durnot indeed. The Commander said he appreciated the honesty. The Commander
warned that many tough days lay ahead. Boy was he right.
