Chapter 2

The most important events and concerns in Leyras's life at the moment.

** Oath to the Goddess of his heart, Baerinika.
After killing Jode in defense of the Spirit and the Refuge, after repeated warnings,
Leyras had the misfortune to slay Jode as he attempted to drive him away from the Spirit.
Baerinika rescued him from his self-harming despair. Leyras has taken a blood oath
under Sun and Storm to always follow the path of Light, Baerinika's path, under
her deep and and abiding wisdom, compassion, purity, and discipline.
Part of his new oath, which he felt as a warmth permeating his soul entire, is that
he will no longer, by intention, fury, or lack of discipline, cause harm to those of the
of the Light. As Leyras has carefully began the difficult path of pruning away
his failings, he has come to realize that all of the Light, even those who have
mistakenly wandered far from the freedom and wisdom of Sun and Storm, are in effect
his family. By following Baerinika's example of righteous fury combined with compassion,
he has come to realize that to be outcast is to find a family that comprises all
of those who find favor under Sun.


** A decision to be more aggressive in the Righteous Hunt.
Leyras has been too retiring, too careful, of late. The flawed teachings of failed
men had worked their way insidiously inside his head, because of his interpretation
of his oath to the Goddess Amaranthe to support Auldr despite his twisted farce of leadership.
With the cleansing purity of Goddess Baerinika's warmth in his soul, and the
example of Azhelak, the blood-brother he adores and somewhat adulates, Leyras has
reinterpreted his role as a Warden. He will embark assiduously upon the Righteous Hunt.


** A determination to somehow re-waken his lost instincts.
After being cast out by the old Sunwarden twice, Leyras's finely honed instincts
have been dulled to insensitivity. He seeks to return his wild freedom of old.
Lord Nythos has said there is nothing to be done. (OOCly, Nythos suggested the bug board,
but it has been a few months and no response). Leyras is hopeful that perhaps he can
find a way to be worth of the Ancients and reawaken his instincts.


** His friendship with the Acolytes and Maran.
While he finds the concept of joining a military hierarchy anathema, Leyras is most mindful
of the generosity and friendship shown to his by certain of the Acolytes and Maran.
They accepted him unreservedly while he was cast out of the Refuge.
Leyras has promised to call them by the titles, as much as he can remember, in order
to express his deep and abiding gratitude and friendship toward the Acolytes and Maran
and their cause.
Leyras has said he will still think them mistaken about certain principles, but no
The connection between Andira and Azhelak, two beings Leyras holds in high regard,
while simulataneously wondering about their sanity, seems to sanctify Leyras' friendship.
