#10345, "Aundar's Role Chapter 1"
|
RoleChapter 1 Synopsis Added Thu Mar 16 09:49:17 2006 at level 51:A giant as curious as he is large, Aundar has ever had a penchant for exploration, and seeking out knowledge that others are wise enough to avoid seeking or unwilling to seek due to fear. He has spent the better part of his life studying Thera as he flies around the skies, oblivious or uncaring as to the machinations of most cabals. Most cabals.
Empire has clearly been an exception to this. Being jumped by Nysveld, Ekebe, and Merlah when he was middling titles in his guild instilled a deep-seeded hatred of the Empire, for they represent not only tyranny, but ownership of though of their subjects. Aundar has believed for his entire life that knowledge is the true pinnacle and meaning to life, for experience is all that he has. Learning from his experiences is something he is still lacking at, but is making progress.
The better part of his adult life has been spent inside the place known as Silent Tower. He has made some progress understand and trying to unlock it's secrets, but a foolish error of striking a golem inside has made him persona non grata inside and that has really frustrated him and as well made him angry at his own foolishness. Which has evidenced itself repeatedly inside the tower. The number of stupid, avoidable, idiotic defeats he has suffered inside have made him quite humble.
As he has aged, he has realized some of his shortcomings, and even more of his weaknesses. His journeys he never believed would come to a point where he simply did not have the intelligence to complete his quests. Nethlaaric the chronomancer has urged him to complete a task, and despite all his abilities and strengths as well as resources, he simply does not see any possible way to complete it. Aundar has resorted to trying to bring others into the Tower to assist him.
In his travels he never believed one place, the Tower, would ever consume him so much with a thirst to 'know'. Who built the Tower? Who are the Thirteen? Who is R.? Who was the Lord of the Tower before Nethlaaric? Why does he wish the memories of the draconic spirits in Ayerthl Zelaath? Will he somehow gain power over those of the gray still inside with these memories? Who is it that seeks the elixir from him? who is 'the source' in the journals found in the corpses on the Tower's floors? Questions too numerous to name fill his mind when he eats, fill his dreams when he sleeps, and the duality of the Tower calls to him.
The questions are so numerous, and the answers so obscured within the Tower that he literally cannot stand to be outside it for even a few moments. He lives, breathes, and sleeps the need to know more of the place called Nyathl Ikalith. Sadly this has proven a very painful and damaging experience, if not enlightening.
