Chapter 2

As if guided by instinct, Lasuira took the sword in her hands, too
heavy for her to hold with one, she gripped it with two. Something
about the way she held the sword felt right to her. The fire began to
rage through the smithy forcing her to escape the building, coughing
and hacking from the smoke as she exited, she found herself face to
face with the orc, a few goblins behind him, grinning and licking their
chops at more prey.

Lasuira growled, tightening the grip on her sword and much to her
embarrasment, the raiders laughed in amusement. Righteous anger
swelled in her chest and she lept forward striking a glancing blow
against the orc. His laughter ended as he saw the small wound form,
foul, red blowing dripping from it. He roared swatting her with his
mailed gauntlet, knocking Lasuira to the ground.

She winced in pain "Get up. Get up Lasuira" the voice called out to
her. She clambered to her feet, determination etched in a scowl
across her face. She charged again, this time to be easily parried. Her
untrained strikes were feeble and the orc only seemed to laugh more.
As the orc raised his serrated blade to strike the girl down, a cry broke
through the sky, like a powerful bird and suddenly a man in gleaming
armor and a brilliant silver blade appeared between the two. His
sword lit with fire as he struck down the orc. The goblins shrieked in
fear but as they turned, soldiers of all goodly sorts were there to
meet them, to deal with the evil that had come to the village.

Exhaustion washed over the girl and she fainted, gripping the sword
tightly as she did.
