Chapter 8

The Minotaur fumed and stomped about, occasionally pausing to bellow his
own name. Eck wondered if the poor beast were touched in the head. After
some time the monster put his arm around Eck's shoulders and escorted him
past the Massive Giant.

With that single step across the threshold of the village, Eck Nestless,
long storm-tossed and lost became a soldier again. It felt good.

He did not build a hut from scratch, but rather found a shabby one in
need of some repair. From the feathers and bandages scattered about he
assumed it had once belonged to an Arial Defender. He set to cleaning the
simple space.

Eventually he fell asleep.
