Chapter 1

When we come back to the man we notice that he is feasting on the neck of a
poor woman who has been entrapped by his enticing nature. While taking the
last bit of her blood a man clothed in dark robes comes up to him. He
delivers a handwritten note with a shaking hand. The man reads the note and
a thin smile creases his lips. You get a glimpse of the note and immediately
notice the feminine penmanship of one of the Queens supplicants. Your
glance of the note offers insight into how the Queen has decided to choose
her Chancellor. The man with death in his eyes grins as he finishes reading
the note and folds it up for storage in his saddlebag.

A few moments later the man produces a parchment and pen of his own and
begins to address a missive back to the Queen. He ponders awhile with pen in
hand and does not write anything on the paper. You notice a look comes into
his eye, one of determination, and the man takes pen to paper. He quickly
writes a fairly short yet descriptive missive to the Queen concerning himself
and his thoughts on why he should be Chancellor. He signs the missive with a
flair of his pen and quickly summons the scared messenger back.He hands the
message to the man in robes and goes back to finishing his delightful
torture.

A few weeks go by and the man hears little of his fate. He wakes from
resting one day to see that Messervy has been named Advisor, yet finds that
nobody else has taken the mantle of Chancellor. The man notices that the
Queen is seeing to her supplicants. While traveling about the land an
insatiable voice comes into his mind and tells him that she wishes to speak
about his note. The man reverts to his normal form and kneels while smiling
to himself.

A few more days go by and we find the man kneeling in the Den of the Queen.
She looks at him with a stern look in his eye and you notice that in some
ways she is not pleased with him. He hangs his head under her stern gaze and
listens as she commands him. He nods acceptance to the things she is saying
and looks up to state his desires. He promises the Queen that he will change
the things she dislikes and that he accepts the fate she has put before him.
The Queen comes close to him and nearly kisses his ear, but stops just short
while the man trembles at the thought of his desire. With some final words
the Queen nods at him and a sense of power passes through the room from her
to him. The Chancellor of Eternal Night he has become.
