In other posts on this forum I've made the distinction between "chaotic" and "Chaotic" characters. The former is a character who has a chaotic ethos; the latter is someone who embodies Chaos in their role. There are many chaotic roles that aren't Chaotic (e.g., anti-Order). Entropy is more interested in Chaotic characters.

In the OOC sense you should gain by being in Entropy. Cabal induction is a reward for above-average RPers, so hopefully you're rewarded with something. However, the reward should enhance already existing quality and not be a crutch for those who can't RP the roles that Entropy (or any cabal) attracts. In the IC sense, I don't think Barons have any "real gains." In a world of Chaos there can be no cause and effect (i.e., a "law" of physics), so giving/applying Entropy's powers to its members should -- in theory -- result in the same amount of Chaos regardless of the powers I give them, whether they be gibberish or wanted.

That sounds like one (OOC) rationale for a Chaotic character wanted to join any group of others. It also seems to follow from what I mention above.

Do you see it this way through the eyes of a Chaotic character (i.e., IC) or your player's eyes (i.e., OOC). In an IC sense, can one ever hide? In an OOC sense, you can't collaborate with cabal members like with other cabals, so other than the powers, protecting yourself behind the slime may be the only benefit.

Again, in the IC or OOC sense? In the OOC sense Entropy serves a purpose within the context of CF's cabals and CF in general. I think it does so by putting a wildcard into cabal politics. In the IC sense, Entropy serves nothing, not even Chaos. However, since Thera -- and the characters within Entropy -- are not purely chaotic, the above mentioned pointlessness of any action isn't what really occurs. Thus, through the characters (but not necessarily the players, but sometimes) and the powers they are given, a greater level of confusion, trepidation, unease, etc. hopefully is spread throughout the realm of Thera -- at least as much as any cabal's "view" of the world is spread in Thera.
