You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. #33, "how to approach an Immortal, specifically Pico"

This was posted by Abernyte in the Chaos good/evil thread, but is really a new thread. The original post is below, followed by my comments.

>Can you offer any hints tips and ideas as to how you approach
>an Immortal such as yourself to get induction into the barons
>because the player (myself) wishes a baron character but the
>character is just dondering along being chaotic. I can't wait
>to be noticed as I am lucky if I ever coincide log in times
>with most Imms, let alone yourself.

Last issue first: my timezone is the same as system time, so obviously if you're not close to that timezone then you'll have more difficulty locating me. Luckily Mayesha is usually on at different hours than I am, so you might consider finding her.

As for how to approach Pico, I would say that in an IC sense you need to be as unique as you can while still getting your OOC point (e.g., Entropy or tattoo) across to me eventually. Obviously I can't tell you what is unique, but perhaps to illustrate this suggestion I'll offer it's opposite. How responsive do you expect Pico to be if he always hears "Lord Pico, I wish to join the Barons to help spread Chaos throughout the land" from every applicant? Or, better yet: "Pico! Don't you just hate those Tribunal goons?"

Two other things. First, I get many characters who strike up a conversation with me for the sake of talking, so just because you talk with me I don't assume either OOCly or ICly that you want to join Entropy and/or want my tattoo. Secondly, with Pico I do my best not to adhere to the conventions that mortals would normally afford deities. What I mean exactly I'll leave you to figure out on your own, but I will tell you to question yourself why you approach me in the way you do and is it adhering to convention and/or custom.
