You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#39, "Enhanced "where" command."

Add the name of the area you are in (when you aren't blinded, asleep, etc.) to the where command.

Helps newbies learn geography. Would have been great if it did that when I first started.

Don't see any real cons to this, can always hide the area name in spots that for some reason or another want to be kept secret that they are part of X area.

Possible exploration-minded edge. Even though no one would ever pick it except newbies.

- You know exactly what area you're in when you teleport.
- As soon as blindness wears off you know exactly where you are.
- You're not actually exploring...you're just being told where you are.

Honestly, if I did something like this it would end up being an edge, and not a change to where.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Have some tweaks to mitigate those reasons, but coding becomes more trouble than it's worth probably.
