Just thinking about a run back to the old village and wondered what the current criteria is for induction in case it has changed in my 2+ years absence?

Recs? Kills? interviews?

The induction policy hasn't really changed that much. It's ultimately up to the leader. Becoming an applicant via Tahren helps but getting recommendations from other villagers helps much more.

It's also not uncommon for one of the imms to be "very impressed" on the spot and to give applicants an induction.

Is there going to be a rites soon?

I have been defending when I can and retrieving too!
The only known rager I have met has rec'd me but I
am now in the high (mid ranks) and starting to lose interest
in what appears to be a lost cause of seeking induction.

Yep. Rites will be coming up soon. The immortals have put on their induction hats to facilitate a solid Rites participation.
