#76, "So how does one gain entrance to Scion?"
|
The only Scion I've ever had was way back when Master and Empire were disbanded and Scion first started. That was back when getting into Scion was just as easy as getting into Empire.
"Hi. I'm evil and I want to kill people."
"Are you evil?"
"Yes."
"Do you want to kill people?"
"Yes."
You have been inducted into Scion!
"We'll give you a try and see how you do. Do not disappoint me!" Scion leader glares at you icily!
However, that was back when I had zero concept of how to play an evil, so I ended up deleting the character fairly soon. By the time I decided to try again, Scion had become the elitist cabal that we see today. Every attempt I've ever made to get in has resulted in utter failure. In every instance but one, it always came down to failing to know the answer to a question that only a Scion would have any means of knowing. In the one instance where that wasn't the case, Ravon was Chancellor, and there was one spot available, with a dozen or more candidates. After interviewing me (and NOT asking me any elite Scion knowledge-based questions), Ravon told me that he felt I would make a worthy addition, but that there was one other who he felt was equally worthy. Therefore, I must prove myself by killing that other pledge. I had a pretty good pk count at the time (was playing my first ever transmuter) so figured it shouldn't be too tough to manage. Unfortunately, that pledge and I had exact opposite play times, and I was unable to rearrange my RL schedule to log on when he was on. Before I was able to connect with him and do the dastardly deed, Ravon died.
Since that time, it's been the same old story. I would seek after Imm induction, but having never interacted with Scion Imms, I have no idea how to approach them or respond to them if I actually get a response.
So how does one get inducted into a cabal with a prerequisite of knowledge only accessible to its members?

that are only found inside the cabal, they've failed hard, and should be replaced.
In fact, anyone who tried to give me the "I've been a scion before" secret handshake by talking about specific types and such, they didn't get in (through me).
If a leader is cockblocking you (specifically not giving you the time of day, or is demanding ridiculous things), and you didn't #### up royally, talk to Reksah and he'll probably induct you.
Scion under Reksah is about KNOWLEDGE, not HAVING it, but GAINING it. This is where most people fail. I would often ask someone to gather knowledge about "something interesting" and report it to me. If you thought I was talking about wands, you didn't get in. If you thought up something clever, you did.
