You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

This object, a herbal potion can be referred to as 'herbal potion'.
It is worth 900 copper, and is of the 12th level of power.
It is made of glass and weighs 7 pounds 15 ounces.
It radiates light.
Within it are contained the some spells spells, of the 20th level.

Isn't 7 lbs for a potion a bit extreme?

Not as extreme as 14 kilogram (about 30 pounds or so) monarch butterfly corpse (or was it 12 kg).

Depends on the potion. Water's nearly 9 pounds per gallon, water with lots of stuff dissolved in it more, and when you add in the glass (*), that might only be a quart (or liter) or two. Maybe it's a big thing of tea. Who knows.

(*) If anything, we have too many ultra-light potions. Back then, glass was a lot weaker than the crappiest stuff in your kitchen, and anything you'd carry around without breaking was probably pretty thick-walled. Heck, laboratory glassware (which is generally made of the strong stuff of the day) from the first half of the last century tends to be humorously thick. You'd never mistake it for the newer stuff.

Wouldn't it make more sense for a rangers potion to be in something made out of clay? I doubt there are many woodsie glass blowers.

CF is a world where mobs can forge (and even have in the first place) adamantite, diamond, and other ridiculously hard and/or mythological materials with great skill. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that if those things can be done, light-weight, strong glass can also be created.

(Please don't go around making potions heavier!)
