For example, there are some items that require you to kill X mob before you can request, and it has a limited window to do it. Without knowing the mob or the item its hard to give a better answer.

when you don't complete the requirement the mob you are talking about says the following: How can I lay down my arms when that cursed fiend ***** wets his blades with my people's blood?

Your best guess is that he is a storm giant.
He is a member of the paladins' guild.
The paladin champion shows you his razor-sharp teeth.
The paladin champion is much larger than you.
He greets you warmly.
