You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

Wanted to start a conversation about adjusting some areas for more accessibility for the current or given player base.

I feel like people get bored, delete then remake or just leave making things even worse as the player base continues to shrink. Some of this is driven by having nothing to do or maybe I am just reading things wrong.

Feel like some area's are too hard or just don't let people in due to roleplay related issues...

I will start with the Inferno. I've only been able to run this once since I started CF 20 plus years ago...

Love the idea of the area, but it is essentially "almost" completely inaccessible by anyone who is good aligned. I've asked fortress folks and most wont do it cause of the sacrifice on the 4th circle. Then there is the whole ass raping part which is another blocker...

I like the intended idea...but is this stuff needed? Are there alternatives that can open the area up without compromising and punishing a character?

Goodies are EZ mode PvE wise. If goodies were allowed to go down hell, they'd mow down through it no problems very very very easily, hence totally imbalanced hence no.

So you have read your own post at least 100 times.

Is this the one that will change the entire system?

We will eagerly await a response instead of doing a forum search.

Pooping on the wrong thing there with the neg sounding follow up. Having areas adjusted to fit the new smaller amount of players doesn't sound bad.

..run seasonally without fail for the last 17 years. Hashed rehashed rehashed. The sky is falling again here and on dioxides and everyone wants to be the one to point it out without offering any new solutions, including me in the October shifter forms thread but was because IMMs were making terrible choices. IMMs could open hell in God mode for players and after a couple of months the amount of current players wouldn’t really have changed.

Yeah, yeah... Others can go there, I know.

It's just that no other cabals realistically get the numbers, except Fort which can't go, to make a deep run.

"t still is lame the inferno is basically an Empire only area with the way it is set up"
MY point basically... Sadly the one time I ran it years n years ago was with my empire characters.

Its terrible that I picked this area as a conversation starter? Yeah sorta...

There are also others, like Tiamat, Yzbeckon(spelling) etc that all need some form of tweakage. Cause the player numbers aren't there to form the correct group.

I really wish the mud had something like a wow dungeon instance that I did weekly to earn something. Oh well.
