No 'alms for the deceased' badge. And when I click donate, I don't see anything about a character sheet. It just takes me to the PayPal site.

Am I supposed to put the information in the 'Add special instructions to the seller' part of the PayPal site?

If that's the case, then the helpfile needs to be updated.
