You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

1) Add (Enlarged) and (Reduced) tags to the person short desc.
You should be able to see right away if person is of abnormal size for his race. So it would be like (White aura).

2) Prolong duration of reduce (say extra 5 hours).
This will enhance both offensive and defensive power of this spell.
Currently it is practically useless spell. Unless you are trying to prevent giant from bashing you or you are svirf warrior with Autumn harvest legacy.

3) Enlarge spell should be based on trust.
Since it could be used offensively.

Sorry, this made me laugh. What *else* do people use reduce for if not to avoid being bashed or to bash reduced people?

But yeah, a low level spell which makes you unbashable, gee, that sure is "useless"

Despite the fact that you would be able to see someone's size, I disagree with point one, because of gameplay. The utility of enlarge and reduce would be screwed if people can see what size you are. If a giant can see you are reduced, he's probably going to bash the crap out of you, and you gain no advantage. If he can't, you've slept him by the time he's figured it out. I think it gives an element of psychology when fighting people, by forcing you to think whether the giant has reduced (in which case you want to be enlarged) or not (in which case you want to be reduced, usually).

I would apply the same argument to seeing whether someone was flying.

Disagree with point 2. There are longer duration reduces, but they come with some unpleasant side effects. No pain, no gain. Even a short duration reduce is enough to enable you to get the first attack of, be it a hamstring or sleep or whatever.

Re. point 3. I'm pretty sure it already is based on trust.
