You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#6030, "about loss of spell percentage by using offensive spells on self"

As it stands if I want to remove calcification or petrified flesh or corporeal hardening I need to either use repair bone/flesh, cancleellation, or decalcify/corporeal softening. Now repair bone and flesh are not always that available due to their long cool down times. cancellation also tries to dispell all spells which is not always the best option. Decalcify and corporeal softening work the best but when I use them on myself I loose insight into them lowering my percentage in the skill. I know this is done intentionally so players do not spam offensive spells on themselves but when there are used in a non defensive way, such as removing calcification to fly or corporeal hardening to use mallability perhaps they should not cause a loss of memory. A rather simple solution to the loss of insight also would be to simply make it like practicing while wielding a weapon you don't know or on immune mobs. That would be much kinder especially to people who use the number targetting systems and accidentally hit themselves.
