1) all things being equal: damroll, edges, clothing... Does a higher strength stat noticeably improve circle and backstab damage?

2) do any stats or size affect parting block?

Backstab is simply a multiplier, so it stands to reason str would affect your overall backstab damage in exactly the same way it would any physical damage output.
