You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#57565, "Suggestion regarding 'spin the wheel' and 'roll the bones'"

I suggest that shifters that haven't picked any egdes are allowed to choose edges 'spin the wheel' and 'roll the bones' even if they can't afford the cost at the moment. The shifter would just get negative edge points if he doesn't have enough, and thus pay the price afterwards as he accumulates edge ponts.

The reason I suggest this is that the shifter is essentially gimped if they can't afford the cost at the time of getting the form, due to the requirement of not using the form in order to reroll the form with the edge.

Unless you are a Shapeshifter who is seriously powerleveling, you ought to be able to take one of these two edges very soon after getting your unwanted form. You may have to abstain from using it for those last few levels, but tough.

I'll also tell you that the average character between levels 41-51 has earned enough edge points to take both of those edges, which means even the below average character is doing just fine.

Like Daevryn said, we really aren't concerned if folks aren't able to swap both forms as conveniently as they might like, but again, tough.

"Powerlevel and see what forms you get" is already a very popular shifter behavior. I don't see us encouraging that even more.

In the 35-37 range. It'll make them more diverse and options in 30's pk. Also, if you want more lowbie shifters utilizing forms... the lag and mana intensity(along with unable to shift into form to form) in early 20's hurts a lot.

I think you should move shapeshift skill to 20. The burden at these ranks is that you have to fight without enlivens if you are alternating as is.. which I think is fair.

I would almost go the other way and say hit 200 hrs before you get the edges. But also make them cheap.

You're denying yourself other edges compared to a shifter who liked the form he got right away.
