Any thought to some sort of lottery where the immortals select players or just randomly assign people who sign up for involvement into cabals? Then have those people play within the cabal, and only that one character, while limiting ranks to something like 10 ranks every 2 weeks?

It'd be really cool to see an intentional field of players all duking it out over the course of several weeks and where it wasn't a race to hero like the Amaranthe character quests often are (which are still cool).

I'm thinking 40 players or so that sign up, are assigned cabals/alignment, and get to go at it.
