I can't figure out what makes this skill tick! What gives? Sometimes it works, sometimes I miss several in a row. Is the chance to land it that terrible now?

Is it true that savage blow initiating combat has a higher chance to fail? Does it look poorly on having a large size difference (i.e. enlarged giant vs human)?

Is it because I'm flying?

Are you making sure your not dressed in metal? I know that with my felar ranger I couldn't land savage blows or much else for that matter if I had something shiny on. I also found that it seems to launch someone into something like in my case trees and stun in home terrain a lot more often. Seemed like the majority of the time people would bounce up while I still recovered from it while outside the forests.
