#54835, "regen (and plague, poison, bleeding, etc)"
|
Is there any general information about how these affect regen? Plague, afaik, completely stops all hp/m/mv regen? At first, I thought poison and bleeding stopped hp regen (on top of the damage they deal), but now I've played a character with a few regen edges and it seems I can regen some. Bleeding also seems like it greatly hurts mana regen.
Basically, I'm wondering if these effects are a % reduction in regen (plus damage), or something more complicated? How useful, for instance, is it to be slowed while bleeding? Is there any way to recover mana more quickly? Does Thick Veined have a major effect on this?
Sorry for the rambling post, but this is something that's been bothering me.

Very few affects halt a type of regen completely; rot and wasting disease for hp/move are two of the only examples I can think of. Most other things just cut regeneration (and possibly also doing some damage to that stat), stacking with each other and also affects that help regeneration. For example, poison cuts hp regen and also deals damage at the tick.

With a few exceptions as mentioned above, this is pretty accurate in most cases.

Did Impale always nerf mv recovery? Or was this tweaked since 2010? I am curious because, I recently had to wait out a 12 hr hemmorage from Impale and noticed my MV weren't regening.
I know that hamstring? always seemed to impede mv regen - has it always been the case that all bleeding does?
This is purely based on curiosity, and I appreciate any answer you give.

As far as I can recall, it has always hampered move recovery.
Riddle incidentally is pretty helpful here.

Plague halts all regen as well as causing a loss of hp(as damage), mana and moves on every tick. I can't tell you what exactly determines how much mana or movement you'll lose each tick, but I imagine they correlate to your Wis/Int and Con respectively.
Poison halts regen of HP and causes damage every tick for the duration.
Resist poison and disease directly mitigate damage taken from Poison and Plague respectively. In this case the effect is a known amount; 33% which can be seen via the SCORE DAMAGE command, should you have either resistance.
There are a bunch of different bleeding affects. Some do huge damage every tick, some do very little. All bleeding damage can be mitigated via the use of slow and various transmuter repair spells (some will specifically cure certain bleeding affects).
Slow and Metabolic Slowing will each boost regeneration rates across the board, for health, mana and movement. Exactly how much is deliberately obscure, but it's a very noticably effect. To be clear, plague definitely trumps slow, but I am less sure about poison.
I can't really answer your question regarding the Thick Veined edge sorry. I imagine it's a very useful amount for those characters which cannot access slowing affects for whatever reason, however.
