I know they are not as long lived as the other giant races, but I am wondering if maybe frost giants aren't aging as intended or I could just be eating a lot of + age withers. I don't think I've ever worn + age gear.

Your (specifically Jalrandar) "death age" is right in line with what the average age for frost giants is documented as under HELP FROST GIANTS.

I don't know about middle-age specifically, but I want to say everything is in order.
