You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Does the level of the weapon compared to your own level matter at all when assassinating? If I'm a 51 assassin and looking to assassinate an elf, does it matter at all if I grab a crappy level 7 iron sword to do the job?

Daevryn said in the link above that hand to hand is always straight up. Just to clarify, this applied to gnomes and svirfs, too? There will be no bonus for using hands to hit the blunt vuln of these races?

I also assume that this means you can assassinate a giant with your hands without being penalized by their natural resistance?

Correct.

Correct. Hands never get a bonus or penalty for damage type.

Is that relatively new? I feel like once upon a time you could go to town pummeling gnomes...

You just don't get a blunt bonus for assassinating gnomes with your bare hands.

You do, however, get the best assassination echoes if you use hands.

This is just for assassination success.

In that context, it's very old.

When you only have a couple stalks, you can tell you were spotted by getting reset to 'You begin to stalk...'. I've never had that happen while fully concealed except when eating one area away, so I can only imagine that who doesn't matter, but where and seeing you physically in the room does.

But, if you want to test, just stalk someone 5-7 times, go one area away, stay vis for a while (not too long because stalks 'wear off'), then go back in (hidden) and stalk. If you get a 'you begin to stalk' message then apparently it has an effect.
