We don't play to get compliments or to hear 'good job!'. We play and do our thing because we like doing it. While we appreciate the sentiment when someone goes out of their way to say 'thanks man!', that's not why we do it. We do it because we want to, and we stop when it stops being fun or life rears up. We stop when it stops being fun and the reasons for that can be anything

So in the face of MMO's, free to play games and good lord knows how many other options CF is still here. It offers an experience few games can offer. In a climate where most online games are trying to become a game ANYONE can enjoy, CF is here offering a much more hardcore RP and PK experience. You think when you play a game like WoW you feel half the adrenaline when you're being chased down the Eastern Road then have your luck turn just right and land the kill and get the spoils? Nope. We offer a lot of things many games just can't. We're small, we're focused and we have a particular flavor of experience we like to offer up.

There's always going to be negativity out there and sometimes we'll screw stuff up. We're all human, but at the end of the day? We're gonna still keep doing our thing to keep to make this game what it is. So we don't need anyone to rally or change the opinion of the playerbase. The playerbase can do, think and act as they please. We're still going to keep doing our thing and finding other ways to keep the game fun for us and others.

I mean look at the character challenge. This is one of the coolest things we've done in a long time and hopefully everyone involved and interacting with them is having a good time.

This, is one of the best explanations of CF that I have ever heard. I honestly think you have hit the nail on the head here, and though I have played: WoW, WoT, Allods, and various other games, I keep coming back for the RP and to challenge myself at PK.

Just keep rocking on Imms. CF is doing fine if we are keeping to the ideas of this post.

The issue is that running the game and participating in it is a labor of love.

Vitriol pretty much destroys that for Imms and players alike, and it's time the community recognized that. There's no way rational players can really self-police flames and trolls, and the result is that we have bad apples creating a miasma that is corrupting the community.

We should really just go to a no flame/no troll/no vitriol standard.
In the end, whiners who threaten to leave really best serve the community by leaving, I think, so as not to ruin everyone else's experience. Frankly, our player and imm base would be much higher if they did.

It's possible to rationally and constructively discuss identifiable flaws and trends in the game -- and anyone who treats such a discussion as an extension of their in-game persona doesn't really belong here.

I think it is best that we move to this standard. I'm not sure if imms think such players allow a steady stream of evil/drama characters, but I'm afraid what's going on is that imms think the community will eventually get what it deserves. Unfortunately, unlike a brick and mortar community, there's no way three of us can elbow the guy next to us and tell him to shut up before he forces the Dungeon Master to end the game in disgust.

This game is really, truly awesome -- and the recent RP storylines emphasize the incredible experience this game really is. Let's keep it this way for both our volunteer staffs and players?

Making games that are all about cooperation is one thing. But this game is about competition as well. Sometimes more so than cooperation. Either you let people get mad about things, or you remove the competition of the game, and make it RP no PK.

Really, we're killing each other in game. Have you played FPS online? People get mad. You don't like the #### they say? Turn down your headphones. I have never understood the idea that someone elses job is to make sure YOU aren't offended.

...when players act like a majority of the IMMs have on the forums recently, they are called drama-queens and "emo".

Yet when IMMs do it we are supposed to be all "OH I'M SO SORRY I OFFENDED YOUR SENSIBILITIES WITH MY OPINION".

Something a wise person once told me -- "If you are going to quit, just quit. Saying you are going to quit in a post is basically asking people for pats on the back."

And I understand, we all need a pat on the back sometime, but for ####'s sake every ####ing person in the CF community needs to chill the #### out for a moment and stop being all doom and gloom.

Play the game, or don't. Enjoy the game, or don't. If you don't like CF, don't play it.

For clarification:

I don't care about the direction of CF because I have NO power to effect it besides rolling a character. I could make a million awesome salient points in a post and it doesn't mean anything. I could offer constructive criticism and my thoughts on how to "fix CF", but in the end, I have no power. Like, at all. I might be able to get a couple people to be like "Yeah, that does suck! I won't play either". But that's not real power.

The IMMs have an idea for where they want CF to be and I can either like it and play or not play. When I find time, maybe I'll want to play again. If that happens, I'll just play, I won't give two ####s about who is playing who, what immortal cheats, et cetera.

I suppose you could call it a realists' maturity stage? Should I have even made a post? Maybe not, but I can't be a person who just keeps their opinion to themselves. Never been able to and won't start now.
