You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

Is it by design that a ranger can scan and see someone hidden/invis but if they are standing next to them this isn't always true?

Waylay hits people you cannot see.

It is a bug I have looked into multiple times and the fix is scary/nasty. I have tried fixing it twice but ultimately broke things far worse.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

If it helps, it doesn't happen all the time. While in my home terrain I was able to see a hidden person. I'm unsure if this is coincidence or mechanic.

A Signpost in the Enchanted Forests
Through the majestic oaks of these ancient woods, the deep earthiness of
the forest permeates your senses, while a gentle hum of magic in the air
pulses low and vibrant. A shy nymph peeks inquisitively at you from
behind a tree before disappearing with a titter. An old but sturdy
signpost stands beside a crossing in the paths, which lead in every
direction.

You begin creeping in that direction.

FOREST <na>

A Fae Crossing
The path has taken you to a junction over which hangs the twisted
branches of two Blackthorn trees and an Elderwood tree. You remember
folktales which tell that spiteful faeries lurk under the meetings of
such trees to waylay and confound woodland travelers. Feeling a little
uncomfortable, you look south, where the forest seems to darken
menacingly. The east trail beckons you to the safety of the Emerald
Forest.

Someone utters the words, 'ouaih ghcandusiohp'.
Someone's muscles surge with heightened power.
