#47169, "Luck!"
|
Discussion of the mysterious luck stat has me wondering if the following things affect this little-understood facet of the game: Race Class Cabal
Also, does the luck stat affect any of the following things: Skill learning speed Fleeing successfully Teleporting into aggro mobs Escaping quicksand
I think that part of the problem is separating a player's luck vs. a character's luck.
Thanks for any clarifications.

None of the above.
Here's the full list:
1) It has a small effect on saves (to give you some idea, INT and WIS each have as big or greater effect).
2) Various combat skills where you see some kind of 'critical success' echo, generally with 'luck' somewhere in it. Pincer, charge, etc.
3) Gambling.

Have you ever seen a 'lucky assassinate' echo?
Then no.

>1) It has a small effect on saves (to give you some idea, INT >and WIS each have as big or greater effect).
You've mentioned before that not maxing your int/wis isn't a very good strategy because it'll mess up your saves. At the risk of nitpicking, when you say "as big" it sounds like the effect of luck is equally important as significant as at least one of int or wis. That would make luck fairly important.
Or do you mean something like: In most cases, int and wis have a much greater effect than luck In a few cases, int and wis and luck all have an equally tiny effect
Just trying to be clear, since people love to exaggerate the impact of luck.

Luck can potentially be as big as Int or Wis; that being said, the spread of PC luck stats is much smaller than the spread of PC Int or Wis stats.
