You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Seems like a really good idea. If nothing else a possible edge. You'd think master thieves could easily steal from a corpse if they can steal from the most alert PC's.

Pickpocket thieves add nothing to the game. They are by and large gear locker characters who both engage in very little pk, and hoard some of the best items in the game. They come under very little pk risk since they have no incentive to go out an kill. Adding the possibility of bypassing corpse guard (instead of just stealing it from the person who does loot) means they face even less risk.

No thank you.

p.s. I hate jack+steal+run away thieves. If you aren't even going to try for the kill, GTFO.

I'm just not convinced that a class that can clean out an inventory but can't kill anyone is really a plus for the game.

(Caveat: I've never had one that helped me out, otherwise I might feel differently.)

I've played all kinds of thieves, and I don't think pickpocket thieves really need any more help in frustrating people. I don't think the game needs more of this.

I could see this being a benefit of improved hide, depending on whether improved hide does what I think it does.

If you can take something from a corpse and remain hidden then someone who can't see hidden shouldn't be able to stop you. Conversely, if the person guarding the corpse can see hidden then you should still get stopped.

If improved hide doesn't let you get stuff from containers on the ground while remaining hidden...then this is all moot.
