#3088, "Abuse of Necro charmies?"

There is a log on the unofficial board that shows a group vs group fight, there is a necromancer on the opposing team who is not in the pk range of the poster. The necro's allies must have been grouped around the necro to keep the necro's charmies in the group. During the beginning of the fight, the poster was protected from the out of pk range necro's charmies, but when the necro fled, the poster was then defending against them.

My question then is, doesn't this make it easy for a higher level necro to pk people that are 15 levels lower than him? Group with a human warrior 9 levels lower than you, find someone in the warriors pk range, say a giant warrior. The human warrior initiates combat and the necro flees or words, his zombies then attack the guy who is 15 levels lower than the necro and probably 20 or more levels lower than the zombies. Seems like if someone wanted to, they could destroy that human warriors pk range with little risk to the warrior and no risk to the necro.

This has been brought up numerous times over the last 8 years that I have been playing. I specifically remember a time 3-4 years ago. The overwhelming consensus was that it is intentional. Real necro army old school abuse was ordering each zombie + golem + ghoul to quaff a lvl 50 fireball potion - that was changed rather quickly.

There is a big difference between a necro being able to allow his zombies to ATTACK people out of pk vs them being able to be attacked by people out of pk.

I don't think that zombie should join in a pk just because they are grouped. If someone hurts a zombie by mistake (eg if paladin holy words) then fine, let the zombie pile on him, but for the necro to be able to cause his minions to attack by wording does not sound like it is "by design" to me. Maybe "by bad design".

If you think it is a problem, I would take it to the bug board as that sounds more like a bug.

But that sounds like a nice thing to do for someone, and I just don't see necromancers being... nice.

I don't think it is a "bug" per se, since it has always been like this and people have complained about it before. The difference is, usually it is the necro complaining about paladins summoning and killing their charmies. This is the first time I have thought about how this could be abused by the necromancer.

Nice? Hm, necro cleans out the warriors pk range and gets all of the nice mage type gear, seems self serving to me.

Well, I don't see why they would complain, that is what paladins are suppose to do. That's like saying Jim wouldn't have killed my entire group if he hadn't summoned away our healer and killed him first. That's why those abilites are so much fun.

Yeah, I guess you do have a point there.
