when they stick to you they cause you to fail attacks kind of like bard echos. It also is like oldschool thief bind in when you try to flee combat on land in them you get stuck and can trip and get 2 rounds of lag without actually fleeing, they last for a couple of ticks.

when i walked through one on the pond in the grove and it stuck I didn't notice anything massive and rangers already move faster then other pcs in wilderness so if it does its not super noticeable.
